Yes, first of all, the install may have created; /Library/Application Support/EZDrummer

    So shutdown EZDrummer

Rename that to /Library/Application Support/EZDrummerINSTALL (or something like that)

Start up EZDrummer. You should get an error message indicating that it can’t find the library and gives you the option to browse for it’s location.

Navigate to the location of the EZDrummer folder on your external drive and select open.

That should be about all you need to do.

I changed the name of the folder as suggested. When I restarted EZD2, it automatically created a brand new EZDrummer folder that I just altered.

The fact that I also have SD3 on the machine may be playing a role, not sure.

Here is what the hierarchy looks like:

    Toontrack

    EZdrummer

    Product Manager

    Superior2

    Superior3

    Hi Gary,

this sounds strange. You didn’t get the question to locate the Library?
And what happened when EZdrummer 2 opened? Did it still load sounds or did you get any kind of error message?

    BR,
    John

That is interesting. The hierarchy looks like the Application folder. Can you right click the EZDrummer and let us know what the “where:” value is?

    Thanks

    Hi John-

I altered the folder exactly as suggested. I even rebooted the computer. When you open up EZD2, you can see the new EZdrummer folder created right in from of you. Here is the expanded view of the files.  When restarting the program, both EZD programs show up as well as all of the SD3 programs I already have installed. No errors.

But I’m wondering why there should even be an error, since this fresh install doesn’t even know I have the other 50+ programs (including midi)

So I guess the real question is: With the fresh install of EZD2, how can I associate ll of the programs sitting on my external hard drive without actaully installing them within the program?

FYI, I did do full install of all my SDX programs for SD3.

    The EZdrummer folder “where” is:

Mac HD > users > glbrody >application support > Toontrack

I first installed SD3 and the 5 or so SDX expansions I had. Those reside on my Mac HD. I was just trying to emulate the structure I had on the old computer.

    Mac HD > users > glbrody >application support > Toontrack is where user specific information is stored. The folder I was talking about is in;

Mac HD > Library > Application Support

If you do not see it in your folder list; go into finder select “Go to Folder ” type in /Library

    Go from there.

    I did exactly that.

Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Toontrack > EZdrummer is where the files are.

Right but that is the default place where EZDrummer and SDx samples are stored, you wanted to point EZDrummer to another external drive, yes? What’s the external drive called and is there an EZDrummer folder out there too?

Other than the two EZXs that loaded with EZD, I have I believe 57 other EZXs and Midi packages all on an external hard drive that I moved from the old computer to the new one. I just went into the Program manager and looked up Action EZX. It was still authorized for the old computer and I released it. It says in order to authorize it for the new computer, I must first install it. If that is the case, that’s an awful lot of work to do for 57 packages.

    Is there a workaround?

This is the folder on the external. Purely expansions and midi

The work around is as I described originally. EZDrummer and Product Manager are looking at Mac HD > Library > Application Support > EZDrummer.

Rename folder name EZDrummer in Mac HD > Library > Application Support to something else. Start EZDrummer and it won’t be able to find the sample library. It will then ask you to navigate where the sample library is. Navigate to your external drive select open.

Stop and start product manager and start EZDrummer and you should be good to go.

Just to confirm, the path is Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Toontrack > EZDrummer.

That should not impact your description of.  Mac HD > Library > Application Support > EZDrummer ?

If you can screen print Mac HD > Library >Application Support

    That will help

    None of my systems have;

Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Toontrack > EZDrummer

But I have everything on external drives.

Try renaming Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Toontrack > EZDrummer

    to

Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Toontrack > EZDrummerINSTALL

    and restart EZDrummer

If it complains about no sample library then that’s the right one.

Follow the rest of the instructions and you should be fine.
