I have recently installed an external drive to contain samples and sound content for my DAW and discovered that I should not have moved my EZdrummer 1 content before installing EZdrummer 2. Now, of course, I cannot access those files in EZdrummer 2. How can I fix this problem?
I am using a Windows 10. I have just recently (today, 07-28-2019) installed EZdrummer 2, but I am not sure which version that is.
Thanks for your help,
John
Hi,
there really is no better way than re-installing your EZX:s and MIDI Packs.
If you have problems with this due to ISP quota or similar, you could try merging the new content with the old but in the end you might end up with having to re-install anyway.
I assume you have the old content in an ‘EZDrummer’ folder on your external drive and your new EZdrummer 2 content in an ‘EZDrummer’ folder on your internal drive?
If so I would start with copying the folders, except the ‘Midi’ folder, inside the new ‘EZDrummer’ folder to the old content ‘EZDrummer’ folder on your external drive.
Next, I would take the content of the new ‘EZDrummer\Midi’ folder and merge with the old ‘EZDrummer\Midi’ folder content but not in the way that you get duplicated folders with version numbering.
After that, you delete the new ‘EZDrummer’ folder on your internal drive and then launch the EZdrummer 2 standalone app, which will ask you to locate the sound files. Please point it to the location of your ‘EZDrummer’ folder on your external drive.
You may get some error message. You may also need to Restore the Factory MIDI Database but first I would check that you actually can load the EZdrummer 2 sounds, then close EZdrummer 2 and launch the Product Manager. Check to see if the PM wants to update anything and do so if you can.
Now you *should* be able to run EZdrummer 2 with the old content but I would start with going to the Menu > Advanced > Restore Factory MIDI Database.
Also, new installations of MIDI and/or EZX:s should now automatically be directed to the external drive.
BR,
John
