Hi all,
In EZ Drummer, is there a way to get the sound of sticks hit against each other? (ie: to use as a count in)
Thanks.

I know They have that in the NASHVILLE EZX….I tried this for hours one day to do it and then ended up getting some sticks and micing them.. THEN months and months later I found out I had them in that ezx in ezd2… lol

Thanked by: rockline69No offence, but that seems like a very basic thing to leave out, and it should clearly be available in all kits, at least the rock oriented ones.

Thanked by: dbmckI would agree that sticks would be infinitely more useful than hand claps in the rock genre and was also surprised these were not included in the core EZD2 library.

Thanked by: dbmckTotally agree with that, why isn’t the sticks sound, for count-ins, in all the sound packs. A very basic requirement, I would have thought. I’m thinking of buying the new Big-Band set, I wonder if it’s in that. Maybe someone for Toontracks can answer.

Thanked by: dbmckHello All. Has this been addressed? I must have missed it. Is there a button right there in front of my face?
I don’t care if it’s sticks or clicks (though definitely not hand claps!), but I simply want a variable length count-off that doesn’t get printed. It helps in recording demos and simple video tracks when I use my EZ Drummer.
Thanks. -K

In EZD2 standalone there is a ‘Click button in the transport bar at the bottom. If you’re using EZD2 on a DAW, you should have a metronome/click on the DAW.

Thanked by: ShepherdHi Scott:
Thanks for the speedy reply.
That’s a metronome click track, not a count off. I need a count off. I like the fact that it doesn’t print, though (I seem to remember export testing it).
But I don’t want my drummer to keep clicking after the count-off :))
Is there a way to configure a count-off?
Thanks. -K
edit: Ok, you were also saying that there should be a metronome count-off in my Logic. I am a real newbie with my daw. I will try to make that work. Thanks again.

If your just looking for 4 clicks, I’d just search the internet for a stick click sample, download it, and copy/paste it 4 times at the 1/4 note marks at the start of your song in your DAW on an audio track.

That’s a heck of a thing for a Technical Advisor to say. At that rate why not just do a search on the internet for all sorts of drums. Then you could build your own sound samples of drums. And while your at it you could do samples of keys and horns and strings, etc. If it wasn’t for the patterns you wouldn’t need ToonTracks at all!
I love EZDrummer. With this program I can make my recordings sound much more like a real band. Can’t pretend to have a drummer count the song in with a stick count though.
Just had to vent as I didn’t like Scott Sibley’s answer to something that several customers (including myself) would like to see.
Thanks for the forum!

Just trying to offer assistance. Sometimes the specific product a customer has isn’t the product that does what is needed. Sometimes the right answer is to look for a simple sample somewhere else.
As stated above, there are Toontrack sample libraries that offer stick clicks. I was offering another solution. I apologize if I seemed offensive in my reply.

I was looking for this just now, and I too can’t believe that’s the answer from the Toontrack Technical Advisor! Really, really poor. The stick count off should have been included in the basic EZ2; complete no-brainer. What were (or weren’t) you folks thinking???

Thanked by: John EvansBizarre indeed. There are so many applications to the sound of sticks, I can’t understand why they haven’t included it. Pretty basic expectation for a drummer emulation tool. What is the first thing you hear when a rock/blues/jazz band starts a song live???

Thanked by: John Evans and dbmckDrumstick count-ins are included in the EZD3 percussion library.

So………..$99 for a drum stick click?
Seriously?
