Are you sure about Apple support for FireWire? I’m running MacOS 10.14.5 on a Mac mini and a 2017 MacBook Pro and I connect to FireWire 800 drives all the time. Haven’t used 400 on them but 800 has been working. My library drive is thunderbolt 3.

I see this info in lots of places: Apple has discontinued development and maintenance of their FireWire Core Audio driver for the new Mac OS X El Capitan.

….and RME no longer supports the Fireface 800

Eww… Sorry to hear that. I’m running off an Apollo w/thunderbolt. I don’t use FW for audio anymore since I got an OWC TB3 SSD. What about USB3?
