Hello everyone,
This has probably been asked before. I’ve googled, but I think I may not be using the right words to get any correct results.
Is there an easy way of matching velocities between loops from multiple midi packs? For instance, if I use a loop from “pack 1” and another loop from “pack 2” the velocities will be different when I string them together into one track. Is there any solution for making the velocities consistent between the 2 loops without having to raise or lower velocities of individual instruments?
If possible, I think it would be cool to be able to generate some sort of a “velocity map” where you could choose the velocity based on the velocity of any given midi pack.
Thanks for any help!

The only way I can think of off-hand would be to use the velocity controls in the grid editor. You can easily select all of the events in a groove (loop) and raise or lower their relative velocity.

Thanked by: ScottI will try that. I have both EZD2 and SD3, but usually work in EZD until a complete drum track is created. I’m still not familiar with all of the tools in SD3 yet.
Thanks for the suggestion!

All I can say is “just play with it.” You’ll find creating a drum track in SD3 not too different than EZD2. And it gets better from there.
Aside from volume adjustments, you can also adjust groove dynamics until you get something that relatively matches.

Thanked by: ScottHey Scott,
You also have the option of globally adjusting/offsetting velocities in the Browser/Grooves tab by using the Velocity slider. This lets you preview the clips with appropriate adjustments to velocity, and the offset is saved when you drag the clip into the Song Track (or straight into your DAW).

Thanked by: keeler and ScottI’ll give that a try Erik. I was initially thinking that a simple velocity adjustment across the entire groove wouldn’t give me exactly what I was looking for. Thanks all for the suggestions!
