Hello! I’m wondering why the piano roll in Logic Pro doesn’t always correspond to the same note in MIDI Mapping Keys window. To demonstrate, I have a video at the link below:
https://www.screencast.com/t/S1Dr9rtsDOKJ
You can see that when I click on the MIDI note B0, it does trigger B0 Kick: Hit in the “MIDI Mapping Keys” window in SD3, but as I move down the piano roll it doesn’t match up. You can see I’m clicking on A#0 in the Logic piano roll, and it triggers A0: Ride 2: Bow Shank in SD3.
Then as I go down to A0 in the Logic piano roll it triggers things out of sight (further up the MIDI Mapping Keys window).
Is there any way to make these notes be 1:1? I’ve been making it work with this scattered map, but I want to make my MIDI easier to understand visually (i.e. from bottom to top – kick drum always on the bottom, then snare above that, then hats, then ride, toms, etc.)
Just finding that hard to do, and I’m not sure the best way to go about setting that up. I use a Roland TD-25KV if that helps.
Thanks for your time!
If you are using a MIDI mapping preset in Settings > MIDI In/E-drums, that’s what’s changing incoming MIDI notes (that’s what the presets are for).
