Hi all. I have looked all through this forum, and haven’t quite found anyone with this exact issue.
EZD2, Macbook Pro (Mojave 10.14.4), Yamaha DD-75 e-drums connected to Macbook with MIDI/USB adapter .
When I use the standalone program, every single drum works as expected. Except the hi-hat. The foot pedal won’t keep it closed. With the pedal down, the UI shows the hat is closed, but as soon as I hit the cymbal, the hat opens and stays open on subsequent hits. I can hit the cymbal, then close it with the pedal, to make the classic “shoop” sound of a hat closing, but every hit after that with the pedal down, will be an open hi-hat.
However….When I select EZD2 as an AU in Garageband, everything works 100% perfectly. The hat opens and closes as commanded with the foot pedal. I haven’t done anything else different.
Why would the program act differently standalone VS in my DAW?
This is driving me nuts, because I want to use EZD2 for live drumming, without having to open my DAW to do it.
OK, I’m not sure what I did, but the problem has gone away.
It now works exactly the same in standalone mode as it does in plugin mode.
I can now use the awesome sounds of EZ Drummer instead of the cheesy sounds of my Yamaha e-drums for live drumming!

Thanked by: Henrik EkblomI have the same problem. How do you solve your problem?
Hi sowards,
what kind of setup do you have? Which OS and hardware?
Are you using an E-drum MIDI Preset in the standalone?

Hi,
I’m not sure if you’ve already checked this, but have you adjusted the “Hi-Hat pedal correction” in Menu -> Settings -> Edrums? If you set it to Curve 1, it will keep the Hi-Hat tighter. I have to do this for my Roland kit because by default it is just a little too loose. Also this setting is saved to the project, so if you load a specific project in your DAW but not in standalone, this could be a reason for the difference.
Hope this helps!
