Hi,
Is it Possible to Create a Track Stack that will Play ALL ARTICULATIONS?
I just want to have an additional snare drum play anything that the original snare drum is playing.
I really hope that you do not have to create a separate snare drum for each individual articulation…. that would be crazy.
If anyone knows the answer, I really appreciate your help and feedback.
Thanks

You aren’t adding the entire instrument when you add a stack, you are only adding one articulation.
We haven’t included the option to stack an entire instrument in one go, but you can do that pretty quickly anyway:

Thanked by: onewayout_1The ability to stack all articulations of one instrument onto another instrument, in one step, is a feature that is really needed in SD3!
The stacking process is cumbersome for the average user, who would like to quickly put together cool instrument combinations while spending most of their time playing the drums.
I haven’t checked but is there a way to assign multiple instruments to the same midi note? That would simplify creating stacks with all articulations.
I would love to have this feature as I am sitting with my client/co-producer working on his album and adding individual articulations is super time-consuming when in theory it should be the matter of two clicks like running a single stack with shared articulations. I would pay extra money just for this feature!

Thanked by: DayvanCowboy88Omg, yes! This feature is needed. I thought I just never figured out how to do it. Its extremely cumbersome to add each articulation. It actually makes the stacking process almost not worth it.
My work around is to make another track in my daw with a second superior drummer and just copy the midi notes form the original on to a fresh track.
Selecting the whole groove and just soloing via superior drummers kits window. This way only the new “stacked” instrument will play on a entirely new superior drummer channel. Or just mute the midi notes of everything else in the new instance.

I have been trying to stack all toms and snare articulations but SD3 keep crashing before I’m finishing stacking all instruments.
I used 3 stacks on all articulations and changed the velocity curve on each stack for ultra fat sound.
Seems like there are is a limit of how many stacks you can use which suck sooo bad.

I guess there is a limit to how many stacks you can add but it should be more theoretical than practical (like…128 but don’t quote me on that), I have just tried adding about 30 stacked sounds to my snare center and snare rim articulations and can keep going.
Could it be a memory issue? How big is your SD3 Project?
As for the original question, let me give you an example on how I would do it:
I have a “Hip-Hop” Rim snare sound I like to stack with sometimes; I drag and drop this sample to the Snare and select Add Stack to Center.
Then the Stack shows up to the right and I can right-click the stacked Rim and select ‘Copy to Stack’. I will see a list of Stacked and Not Stacked articulations and can select which one I want to copy it to. Right-click again and Copy to the next.
Works pretty fast and with Toontrack sounds as well as user samples.

The size is 6715 MB so there is plenty before I reach my limit of 16GB.
I managed to add 2 stacks on each tom and snare but when I was about to do the same with the Kick it kept crashing.
Seems like it crash when adding the 31 stack in my case.

OK, is it possible for you to locate a crash log, zip compress it and attach to a post here?

Hi,
Could you try to elaborate a bit around the crash? For instance:
The more information you can provide, the better.

Could you try to elaborate a bit around the crash? For instance:
- What EZX and preset was loaded?
- What drum (What EZX, Drum and Articulation) did you try to stack, and on what drum/articulation on the drum kit?
The more information you can provide, the better.
Thank you in advance,

Toms = Center and Rimshot Articulations
Snare Center, Off Center, Edge, and Rimshot Articulations
Kick Open and Hit Articulations
If I add one or two more stacks a crash occurs

Hi, and thanks for the quick response.
I see that you are creating new close mics in the mixer for each stack. Superior Drummer 3 has an upper limit on the number of microphones in the mixer.
If you’re to create this many stacks, I would suggest you use the “Route close mics to mixer channels: Existing” in the bottom left corner of the view where you browse for instruments. With this setting, the local mics of the stacked drum are automatically routed to the existing mics in the mixer. This routing can be changed in the “Route Instrument Microphones..” setting for the instrument in question.
Changing the “Route close mics to mixer channels” to Existing instead of New will allow you to keep stacking. The crash itself will be looked into and fixed in a future update, so that if you try to add this many mics by stacking, you’ll eventually get a friendly warning instead of a crash.
Cheers,
