Did you ever find a solution to this? Exact same issue on a DTX522

Hi RVan. I’m afraid I’m not going to be much help here. The issue seems to have corrected itself! I don’t know how or why. However, I did receive the following answer from Yamaha. I didn’t need it after all, but maybe it will help you:

Make sure both zones have the same MIDI note assignment

    1) Press the [Menu] button
    2) Turn dial to select [KIT]
    3) Press the Enter button (knob)
    4) Use dial to select [MIDI]
    5) Press Enter button (knob)
    6) Highlight [Assign]
    7) Press Enter (knob)
    8) Turn dial (knob) to select ‘Note’
    9) Press Enter (knob)
    10) Strike the Hi Hat zone
    11) Turn dial/knob to set desired MIDI note
    12) Strike other zone (bow)
    13) Turn dial/knob to set to same MIDI note as previous zone (edge)
    14) Repeat steps 10-13 for same zones, while hat is closed.
    15) Press [Store] button
    16) Press Enter/knob to save

Thank you tmckev, I didn’t know this was possible.

I am assuming I assign these to the notes shown in EZD when you expand the midi details on the hat?

Hi RVan. That’s the way I understood it. Since my issue was resolved, I didn’t actually need to try this. Hopefully it will help you with your situation.

While it was cumbersome, the good news is it worked! Or is at least workable, thank you. Your instructions didn’t transfer well to my version of drums but it got me looking around until I found similar options.

Writing how to fix it for anyone who may stumble across this:

    (On the 502 module)

    Hold shift and hit menu

    Wheel over to kitvoicing

play the closed hat (or any sound pad want remapped really) and you should see it appear at the title

scroll over with > until you see “note”, put 65 (F3), which in my case is the sound I wanted for the closed HH hit

Save as a new custom kit, and always use this kit when playing into midi

The downside is now I have a hot and cold pedal, going from closed to fully open with no taper in between, but I guess it will have to do for now.

    RVan:

You are triggering the Seq hit (65) now instead of the Edge Trig (18) or Tip Trig (20) and that will not work.

I suspect that your module has completely different trigger notes by Default though, so my recommendation would be to take notes on what tweaks you have done to adjust to your playing and perform a Factory Reset. This will reset note values so the correct notes should be sent to EZDrummer 2.

The note changes saved as a new kit preset within the module and I am able to return back to factory kits at any time freely, and the same issue occurs.

A factory reset returns me back to this issue: https://www.toontrack.com/forums/topic/everything-works-except-closed-hh-sounds-yamaha-dtx522k/ (which I saw your reply, I will be doing that shortly!)
