I cannot save midi mapping in SD3 using “learn note”
As an example I want to change tom 3 to trigger a china , I can achieve this by using “learn note” but cannot save this information as a midi map preset to apply to other kits, as soon as I change kits this midi map is lost, when I restart SD3 there is no user preset for me to load.
In SD2 in mapping I could use “learn”, this mapping would remain as I scrolled through kits, even from SD2 to EZ2 and EZX, and I could also save the preset under PRESETS – MIDI – USER PRESETS so next time I used the program I would not have to go through whole learn process again.
I have even loaded SD2 presets while in SD3 and it loads the correct mapping and even keeps the correct mapping when scrolling through various kits.
I do not want to have to create presets in SD2 for use in SD3, its tedious and hard having to refer to cymbal position etc between 2 programs.
SURELY the ability to save in SD3, as you could in SD2, exists.
Please help
Have a look at Settings>MIDI In/E-drums. That’s where you make, save and recall your custom MIDI mappings.

Thankyou that has worked for me although I must say I find it a bit of a step backwards from SD2 where you could re map while looking at an image of the kit rather than a list of instruments.
anyway thanks again looking forward to playing some drums using great quality samples!
I have a similar issue as above. I have a few saved kits in user presets, but every time I go back in to use one of them, I have to go back and hit “Learn” again for 2 of the cymbal settings. I do not seem to be able to save the settings for next time. There is a message at the bottom right of the screen that indicates that “The settings will be saved when I save the session” (or something like that), but each time I go to use the kit again I have to hit “Learn” for these 2 voices. I am in the MIDI/In E-drums section but I do not see a “Save” option. Can you help?

When you do changes on the MIDI In/E-drums tab in Settings, those will be saved with your project. So if you want to have those settings for each time you start a new session with SD3:
You can also in MIDI In/E-drum settings go to the Preset menu (on the top left side) and save a User Preset, which you can load when you need it.

Thanked by: VariantI am having a very similar problem. I don’t want to save the PROJECT. I want to save the MIDI MAP that I put together so that I can import it into different kits and drum kit presets. I’ve tried saving it under the top right dropdown…but it only changes my BOX VIEW. I’ve tried saving it in the MIDI In/E-Drums window on the top left and select SAVE AS after I change the midi map. When I try to open up the different maps that I’ve created under that dropdown under USER PRESETS…NOTHING happens and NOTHING changes. I’ve tried to REVERT TO PRESET under the EDIT dropdown…and NOTHING happens. I’ve CLEARED ALL and then tried to REVERT TO USER PRESET…my settings don’t appear. I can RESET TO DEFAULT (All)…and that resets it to the default. I don’t understand why this should be this difficult. PLEASE help me resolve this. SD2 was SUPER easy with this. I’ve contacted Toontracks with no reply so far.
Thank you!

If you want to use a custom MIDI mapping, the way you did (in the quoted text above) is the way it should be done.

Hi,
Any idea what could be problem? when i made one pad note by learning and save it .After this all next pad is taken same sound every time (pad 16 & 12 working like team all the time) Any help?
Hi,
could you please elaborate?
Are you re-assigning a note on the DRUMS page in SD3? Or are you trying to create your own MIDI map on the ‘MIDI In/E-drums’ settings page?
When you are referring to ‘pad’, is this a physical pad? If so, are you already using a MIDI map which you are trying to edit?

I’m having the same problem.
I have every SD3 kit & EZX’s (except where they double).
Part of the problem is the mappings are different across libraries. I too wanna be able to to flit across libraries & presets & keep my own mappings. I have tons of other makers as well XLN Audio. Steven Slate, BFD3, Kontakt etc..
I simply want to be able to pick & choose say after I’ve captured the performance & not have my default library all over the place. I’m prepared to go through every library & preset if i have to just to get the user experience I think a high end product should have. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for.
Thanks
You do it on the midi in/Edrums page. Set up your midi mappings and then save your own settings preset on the midi in/Edrum page. You can then load the same map for any preset. Of course if you have different kit settings or percussion on pads you may need to create more than one preset. You would then be better saving a drum preset with the middling mapping applied.

This is not working, because when you go to MIDI In/E-Drums Settings the current MIDI Mapping Keys does NOT load into the menu so you CANNOT save the current MidiMap you have saved with the project. So it is not possible to load it into another project???? This is a MAIN feature every Drumsampler has to have! Why is this not possible in SD3???? Did I miss something?
Kind Regards
Not sure what you mean. I just change the notes to what I want and save as a preset on the screen you show. It’s better than sd2 as you can remove the preset and the main screen midi then stays the same. I e been saving different midi presets for all sorts of kits. I don’t use the learn function as it too easy to trigger the wrong note on dual/three zone pads or cymbals. I just record into a DAW and write down all the note numbers. I then put them in SD3 and save as a preset. It is quite easy and much more powerful than sd2.

Look at the screenpic. The Keymap on the right, wich I carfully edited is NOT loading into the list in the setting window. So I can NOT save anything.
Did you save your mappings as a new preset and ensure it was selected? Your selection is showing Default.

I can’t save the mappings so I can’t select it. That is my question! Look at the screen shot I’ve uploaded. I have edited the keys (right) but I can’t save them because it is not transported into the setting-window.
