I am trying to run SD3 in Vienna Ensemble Pro (VEP4). However I can’t get any playback. The samples load fine but there is no sound when I click on the drums. The error in SD3 says audio engine inactive. Check audio device (bottom right)
The audio/midi setting in the dropdown Settings list is not present in SD3 when loaded in VEP
SD3 works successfully as a stand alone.
VEP is working successfully with other synths (kontakt and uvi) when loaded in the same instance. Hence I believe this is a problem isolated to sd3.
Any help would be truly appreciated.
I am on Mac OSX 10.9.4.
VEP 4.1.11.
Are you using VEP Server? If so, I believe you have to make a connection from a VEP plug-in in your DAW (Pro Tools for example). Only then will SD3 be getting audio rendering callbacks.

Hello Olof
Thanks for the reply. Yes I am using the server (that is successfully connected to PT 10). Unfortunately the problem persists.
Any other suggestions would be great. Much appreciated
If you add other synths to the same instance as SD3 in VEP Server, do they make sound?
If so, try enabling and disabling bypass of SD3. If that doesn’t help, try disabling and enabling the channel.
I’m using VEP 6 and it normally works, but once I had this problem and bypassing/unbypassing helped.

Yes other synths on the same instance work.
Do you mean enabling/disabling the VEP channel SD3 sits in? (I’ve not come across this function yet in VEP4)
Or is there a enable/disable function of SD3 itself?
Thanks for your help
I will try in a couple of days when Im back in the studio and report back. Thanks so much
Ok I have tried both turning on/off bypass button in SD3. I have also enabled/disabled the channel of VEP (looks slightly different in VEP4 but the function is there) – unfortunately no change.
It is good to know SD3 works with VEP6 – I think my next step is to try the trial version of VEP6. They have a legacy version that is supposed to work with OSX 10.9.4 which is what I am on
what VEP6 version are you on?
