My drummer has cubasis and uses it’s internal drums to create midi files. I have superior and EZ. When he sends me drum midi files the ride plays instead of the hat etc..In most cases i can detect what piece should play… But in the event i have to ask or guess what was played id like to get exact performance without any guess work….What are some good practices to share midi files like this so they synch up and the correct pieces play?
Thank you in advance
Mike
Hi,
if your drummer sends you GM compatible drum MIDI, EZdrummer 2 and Superior 2/3 plays it back correctly, unless you have any MIDI Presets loaded.

Thank you, John. Yes it plays it correctly but ,for example, the ride cymbal plays when it should be the hi hat ( my drummer recorded playing the hi hat) Any suggestions is appreciated 🙂
You need to use the correct MIDI mapping preset, that matches the e-drums the MIDI was recorded with. This is found in Menu/Settings/E-drums.
This preset will only affect incoming MIDI (for example, when you have EZdrummer in Cubase, and the MIDI is placed on a Cubase track).

Hi Henrik, and thank you both for the replies. When you say preset, do youmean the preset in cubasis as in the piano roll then copy that piano roll list to the the ez drummer midi map etc ? like a drum map?
no, I mean the MIDI mapping presets in EZdrummer 2. In Setting/E-drums you can select the brand of the e-drums you are using. Try to set one of those.
Note that this will not affect MIDI that you have on the track in EZdrummer 2, only incoming MIDI.

Thank you to be clear Im receiving midi files from my drummer via email, so when i load into cubase ez drummer plays the midi file.  I will give this a try. 😉
