Hello!
Midi editor looks so much easier in the grid editor than in my DAW’s (Sonar Professional). How do I edit the BPM though?
I usually use a couple of tempo changes in every song. I used to import my drum midi from Guitar Pro, then set the tempo changes in Sonar. However, having the midi in my drum track does not add it SD 3’s grid editor. When dragging the midi to SD3 everything is imported but not the tempo changes, regardless of the “follow host” tempo changes. Everything is played back at the same speed.

Help please!
Clicking the play button in the grid editor always uses the wrong BPM although host sync is enabled.
Clicking the DAW play button works but then I have to select the part I would like to listen to and edit velocities for in the DAW…doing this in the grid editor would be better.
Importing my DAW’s tempo changes does not work.
By the way, can you rename instruments? I use a huge kit with lots of pieces and “Instrument 1 – instrument 12” is confusing.

Hi,
you sync problems indeed sound strange. Have you tried recording the MIDI to the SD3 Song Track? If not, click rec in SD3 and play through the song. Create a new Song Track if you wish.
Which version number is displayed in the SD3 plugin interface?
When you have ‘Follow Host’ enabled and edit MIDI in the SD3 Grid Editor, keep in mind that if you run the SD3 timeline, the Tempo used will be where the Playhead is in your host, unless you have imported the Tempo changes from a MIDI file exported from your DAW song and disable the ‘Follow Host’ button.

Thanks, John! I am a Sonar user. The midi does not contain BPM…actually I set them in Guitar Pro but exporting them does not work. I set the temp changes in Sonar, tempo settings…
Navigating in Sonar works but as soon as I click in the grid editor and hit the play button there, the tempo changes are not correct.
How can I import them into the grid editor?

Well, if you have exported a MIDI file of the Song from Sonar and used that MIDI file to Import the Tempo changes to the SD3 Song Track, they will happen if you run the Song Track in SD3.
As I wrote above, you need to click ‘Follow Host’ to disable it if you want to run the SD3 Song Track and use the Grid Editor with the Imported Tempo changes happening, otherwise ‘Follow Host’ will set a fixed Tempo of where the playhead is in your DAW.

Thank you, found it! Now I entered all tempo changes and want to set all notes to 124 velocity. Every time I click a certain icon (marked red) the program crashes. Crash report and image attached.
How can I use the velocity and randomize sliders? The mouse is not sensitive enough. I can only reduce it by a minimum of 9 but not less. How can you do this via keyboard?

I have asked a coder to take a look at the crash!

Thanks! What about my slider question please?

I have located and fixed the crash, it will be included in a future patch but I cannot give any ETA unfortunately.
Thanks for helping us make Superior better and sorry for the inconvenience!
As a workaround until then you could try adding a couple instruments (“add instrument” on the “Drums” page) and see if it helps with the crash, it looks like you probably had a few added instruments that later has been removed from the project which is a possible cause for the crash.
Let me know how it goes.

If you hold SHIFT while dragging the slider you can fine-tune the values

Thank you! 🙂
Another question: is it possible to paint velocity lines, for example a straight or curve? Changing each hit is a bit tedious.

You can select the notes you want to straighten out, and drag the Dynamics slider to 0.
To create a slope of the Velocity values for the selected notes, drag the slope handles up or down.
I’ve added a feature request to our list to draw straight lines with the draw tool when holding Shift key.
