Hi, I use EX Drummer 2 and now Superior Drummer 3. I’ve built up loads of songs and I’d like a way to cut them up, organize them and then import them into either of the above for reuse. It could be a standalone product or built into one of your programs. I’ve looked and nothing does this in the midi editor catagory. If it was standalone it could have a rudimentary player to be a guide in cutting up the MIDI. Its a product that if standalone I’d buy in a minute.
Thanks for your time, Vince.
In what way do you mean “cut up songs”?
You can have a song divided in different Grooves on the track (say one block that’s a verse, and another that’s a Chorus). If you select both of those blocks and drag to User MIDI (in Grooves in SD3, in Browser in EZd2), you can later drag that User MIDI Groove down to the track, and it will be kept as 2 blocks.

That’s nice, but I’m thinking of something more robust. Dragging to user midi is fine, but I want to be able to name blocks, then organize them into folders for song, part, etc. Basically I’d like to make user catalogs that resembles your browser organization. I’ve been building so many cool parts of my own and I’d like to have them easily searchable for later use. Basically a user version of what you use to build and organize parts.
Thanks
The structure of your User MIDI folder can be arranged in Explorer (Windows)/Finder (Mac). You can add folders and subfolders, rename them, move the files to where you want them, etc.
You can access this by in Grooves right clicking the User MIDI folder, and select Open in Explorer/Finder
After you have made changes outside SD3, you need to sync the folder so SD3 shows the correct folders and files. This is done by again right clicking User MIDI, and select Sync File Changes.

Okay, nice, this will work. That’s what I was looking for, now to start building my catalog. Thanks for walking me through this, I’m sure its in the manual, but I’m still mastering the grid edit window and it information overload. Congrats on SD3, I love being able to work in just the program. EZ Drummer 2 was a great leap forward, but having to go to my DAW for fine editing was cumbersome. Now I am doing it all in SD3. Again Thanks
UPDATE
Just found I can add folders and rename blocks, so basically everything I was asking about IS in there, now I’m really jazzed.
