Hi
I seem to be having problems just in Studio One. In Cubase 9.5 and standalone SD3 the load times are fine.
I am running from NVME SSD disks so it should be super fast.
The initial load time when adding the VST to the track is slow and then when I pick a new kit it takes a long time on ‘Preparing xxx kit’. After that the actual counting up of ram space used goes very quickly as before.
Windows 10 PC i7 32Gb Ram
Any ideas?
Thanks
Mark
PS Its about 20-30 seconds each time I load a different kit, or the vst itself.
I get the same with stand alone on an i7 system, non SSD, 4 core 3.6 mHz, 32GB ram.
Hi Mark,
the ‘Preparing kit’ message, where is that displayed?
Which version number is reported by the plugin (plugin Menu >About Superior Drummer 3)?
Is it the same version number in the Standalone?

John

Hi John
PS I have reinstalled SD3 and Studio one. Rebuilt SD3 database. Redetected plugins in Studio One.

OK, just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a message displayed outside the plugin, in Studio One.
Versions seem to be in order AFAICT.
Do you have any other Memory/Disk demanding VI’s that you can compare with to see if this is general behaviour in Studio One vs e.g. Cubase?

Hi John
That was a good test. I took Native Instruments Modern Drummer and it loaded a kit in 10 seconds in Cubase and 45 seconds in Studio One.

Well, that would seem to indicate that the differing loading times may be up to something in Studio One. Did you ask anyone at the Presonus site?

John

Hi John
Yes, I have now posted an issue with Presonus. Do you have the time and a version of Studio One there that you can quickly reproduce (or not) the problem? It would be useful to find it was general or just specific to me.
Regards
Mark
I tried this on my computer, however it’s a Mac, having samples on an external non SSD drive, so it differs from your setup.
These times don’t include the loading of the samples, just how fast the Preparing popup disappears.

Thanks Henrik, that’s a useful comparison. there seems to be something either about Studio One on the PC platform or just the setup my particular computer. I’ll see what comes up from Presonus.
Thanks for your help
Mark
