    Hi,

When does it crash? Is it when you load a project that contains those presets?

    hi olof,

no, the project (24/48) was already open and instances of the bob rock pack were then added to the track. (in this case it was a direct guitar recording track)

both in mono and mono/stereo configurations it crashed with 2 instances of the plugin engaged on the track (both were the bob rock presets for smash pump gtr amp emulation and the guitar eq presets)

    thanks

Do you have any crash log to upload?

Also if you find a reliable way to reproduce a crash, please let me know the exact steps.

By the way, do you have any presets from other packs loaded when it crashes? If so, which?

I don’t think the new presets themselves are the problem but the new EZmix 2.1.4, which is required by the Bob Rock pack.

i’ll try and get a crash log.

no, i did not use other presets from other packs in the chain/track/session.

also, i did install the new update before i applied the plugin to the track.

    hi Olof

it just happened again and I was able to save a crash log.

I was specifically able to see that it would crash with S-gear already engaged on a that track.

the preset(s) specifically was the bob rock eq’s (for guitars)

do you want me to upload it here in the forum or email you separately with it?

if so, what is the email address to do so.

    thank you

I would think Olof would want you to ZIP archive it and attach to a post here.

Yes, please, as an attachment here if you don’t mind.

So you were using only presets “Electric Guitar *-* Boost”? Do you remember if you had loaded/tested any other presets in the same session prior to the crash?

I attached the zip below Olof.

I only was using the bob rock presets (specifically the gtr eq boosting ones on this crash)

the only other plugin engaged on the track of this crash was the SGear gtr amp emulation.

no other plugins were engaged throughout the entire session……only these two.

also, the very first crash I reported happened with SGear (bypassed that time) on the same track and then I put on the bob rock pack (smash pumpkins preset) gtr simulator and it then crashed.

so from what I see so far is that every time I have the SGear (engaged and or bypassed) on a track and want to use the bob rock pack, I get a crash when applying it.

I haven’t tried it with any of the other EZMix preset packs as of have yet to see if I get the same results.

I’ll try doing that later today and report back my results.

    hope this helps

    thanks again Olof

same preset involved and another crash just now but this time without SGear.  this time I had waves GTR3 on the track.

it seems to be those eq boost presets on the bob rock pack that are causing it..(no matter what other plugins I have on the track or session)

I attached the zip of this crash below.

Thank you. Unfortunately these crash logs did not reveal what is the cause. It just looks like something has caused a memory corruption so that it will crash anywhere after that. I haven’t been able to reproduce any problems with the eq boost presets in Pro Tools either. Could you attach a sample project file, please? You can remove everything but EZmix from it. Maybe there is some setting in the project that matters.

    thanks Olof.

    my questions:

how can “memory corruption” be addressed on my end?

is there any software i can run that can fix it or does the memory have to be completely gutted, removed and replaced in order to fix?

my mac is only a year old, purchased from sweetwater and used exclusively for music production.

    thanks for your help.

Don’t worry, it’s nothing like that, it just means that a piece of software (probably EZmix in this case) has written somewhere in memory where it shouldn’t. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_corruption if you want a better description. Nothing outside of the running process (Pro Tools) is affected. Crashes like this can be difficult for a programmer to find the cause of, but being able to reproduce the crash makes it easier.

No problem. If you could upload a Pro Tools project that is set up similarly to how it was when you got a crash, I may be able to reproduce it.

Have you been using PT 2018.4 for a long time without crashes prior to updating EZmix? Both crashes happened in PT code so it’s not impossible that they were actually caused by some bug in this version of PT.
