Hi,
I just bought SD3, the Rock Warehouse SDX and the Progressive SDX.
Can you tell me, in your opinion, which other expansions fit the modern Rock style?
By “modern Rock” I mean something somehow powerful (but not metal by any means).
Some good examples would randomly be Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam (post Ten album).
I generally like snare drums with a lot of natural resonance (like the DW copper 14′) and deep Kick drums, still a bit clicky to fit a modern mix but not too much).
I like the drums to sound relatively dry when in a mix while still feeling wet a bit when playing alone. I’m really not fond of Drums drown in a reverberation soupe (although I know this can be edited).
I’m ok if the drums are vintage as long as it doesn’t sound antique. Glam rock or 60’s British pop style is not my thing when it comes to Drums. I need them to have a 3D presence and feel like they are covering the whole frequency spectrum within a track.
Obviously, there is the Rock Foundry but It seems more vintage than anything (maybe I’m wrong).
What else would you think is worth the attention in the SDX series? Particularly when it comes to snares and kick drums. I’m less picky with hats, toms and cymbals (I’m ok with anything standard).
Thanks for your input.
