Hello Toontrack,
The day before yesterday, I started Superior Drummer 3.0.3 in Standalone mode, loaded the Custom and Vintage Library and wanted to load presets I created with Superior Drummer 2.
The program crashes with a crash message.
Superior 3.0.3 was switched to 2 cores and the sound card (RME Multiface 2) ran with 64 samples.
Best regards
Roland
I have notified the coders, they will check this out!

Can you upload one of your S2 presets that causes a crash and also the MIDI you play at the time?

Hello Olle,
I started today Superior Drummer with 2 cores and 64 samples latency, then Load Custom and Vintage and Presets I created in Superior 2, both had Midi-Nodes in Superior 2, 0 to 75 Sidestick, 75-100 Rimshot. Sidestick and Rimshot react well, only when playing the snare there are skips, only from certain velocity there is a sound.
Presets that came with Custom and Vintage respond OK, but there was no sidestick combined with rimshot as a default.
Does this have to do with the translation of the Superior 2 MIDI nodes into Stacks in Superior 3?
I played a little bit on e-drums and there were always dropouts at low velocities.
Even quiet whirlwinds on the snarepad were not triggered at all.
I upload a crash report from today and 2 midi files with Roland TD 10 with TDW1 with cymbal control added.
I hope that it helps you
greeting
Roland
PS:Somehow it was uploaded twice.
I get no crashes myself with your presets. I will have to dig further.
Regarding them not playing well:
> both had Midi-Nodes in Superior 2, 0 to 75 Sidestick, 75-100 Rimshot.
Actually – no, the Midi-Nodes in your presets are using Sidestick and Center
not Sidestick and Rimshot. If you load those presets in SD2 again and change
them so that the MidiNodes do use the Rimshot and then load those changed
presets into SD3 then your MIDI plays better.
But, yes, in principle you suffer from an inability to perfectly reproduce the
effects of SD2-MidiNodes in SD3.

Roland, your latest crash report indicates that there was a problem dragging MIDI from Superior 3. It can crash like that if write permissions are missing in a certain folder. Please open Applications > Utilities > Terminal and paste the following commands all at once (5 lines):
ls -leOd /Users/Shared/Toontrack
ls -leOd /Users/Shared/Toontrack/.
ls -leOd /Users/Shared/Toontrack/Superior3
ls -leOd /Users/Shared/Toontrack/Superior3/.
echo
Then post the results here (select all text in the Terminal window, copy it and paste here), so we can see if there is anything wrong there.

Hello Olle,
I think it’s best if I re-create the presets in Superior 3. I just take the factory presets that came with Custom and Vintage as the basis for new presets, make the stackings new in the Superior 3 and save the presets. It is fast and comfortable in the Superior 3 and in the long run I do not want to do without the version 2 anyway.

You can load the SD2 preset to get the mixer part and then you start over for the drums.

Thanks for the Terminal output. The permissions look fine, so that was not the issue. Let us know if you find a way to reproduce the drag and drop crash, if it’s with a certain MIDI file or something.

Hello Olof,
I think it crashed when I created a MIDI file in SD 3 for Olle to demonstrate what the dropouts in Custom and Vintage look like when playing a snare. He wanted me to record it. I then grabbed the recorded part with the mouse and wanted to pull it towards the desktop, then it crashed.
Later I saved the file via Export MIDI to the desktop.
Many greetings
Roland
I just discovered that dragging out from Superior 3 uses an API that requires OS X 10.7 or higher and you are on 10.6. Sorry about that. You’ll have to use Export MIDI instead, yes.

Will dragging work on Mac OS 10.6.8 in the future, or will it stay that way?
That would be a shame.

I think we can make it work on 10.6 too in the next update.
