Apologies if this is in the wrong section:
I have been looking around the internet to find some info on the performance differences between SD3 and EZ2, but I cannot find anything close to the info I am looking for.
So, I am asking anyone that uses both or have used both on your system, what is the CPU hit like between the two? Is SD3 a way bigger hit on CPU than EZD2? Are they similar?
I think asking that way makes more sense. Everyone’s system is different, and I more than meet the system requirements of both, but I am curious how the two perform in relation to each other on the same system.
EZD2, for me, is usually the biggest CPU hit in a session. It isn’t a massive hit mind you, but noticeably higher than other VSTs I am using. I would assume SD3 would be more CPU intensive, but for all I know, they may have optimised it in a way that makes it nearer EZD2. Any insight would be much appreciated.
SD3 will use the same amount of CPU for rendering as EZ2 when
running the same preset. You can opt to let SD3 use multiple cores
for rendering but EZ2 has no such feature.
Apart from rendering, more CPU is probably spent in SD3 updating
the graphics of the drums, if they are showing, compared to EZ2.
>Is SD3 a way bigger hit on CPU than EZD2? Are they similar?
So, no, they are similar – as long as you tell them to do similar things.
Are SD3 presets more demanding than EZX presets? Not really.
