I am having a hard time figuring out how to drag and drop midi into a track in logic pro x. I have no problem until I drag a groove into the track editor (grid or edit play style) Once I drag it into the editor and try to drag my edited groove into logic it doesn’t work. Any help would be awesome. Thank you! I’m not sure if the way i have things installed on a external; HD would have anything to do with it or not. Thank you !
if u just want to drop midi into track, u just need to select it, drag and drop in a track.
but, If u want to drop within SD3, u need to import through the program.
btw, as u are using Logic, are u having trouble importing Logic Pro X drummer midi’s into SD3?
please check my topic and please bump it as well, as I’m not able to figure it out and toontrack still haven’t replied

thanks

I’ve seen Toontrack address this question in other threads.
As I understand it, but haven’t tried it for myself,
If you record the MIDI that you created/edited/hosted in Logic into the SD3 SongTrack,
the SD3 algorithm will ‘transform’ that MIDI,
I do not know whether it can do this with a Logic Drummer track alone
or if the Logic Drummer track must be converted to a general MIDI track within Logic first
Logic has a function to do this. Please try it both ways and compare the results.
Thank you for the reply. I am having a different problem though, I am trying to drap SUP3 grooves into logic. Not the other way around. I can drag and drop a groove right out of the sup groove menu no problem. It’s after a do any kind of edit play style that I can’t drag the edited groove from sup3 into logic. So it wont let me edit drums and then drag the file into logic. I hope I am being clear. I wish i knew how to post some kind of video. Thanks again!

Hmm, this should work. I am using Logic Pro X and SD3.
What version of SD3 are you using?
When you drag an edited Song Block from superior’s song track, can you see the file icon when you drag? Can you see the + icon next to the cursor when you drag it over Logic’s song track?

Hi Henik, I was going to PM you, but there is no such option in this forum, I think.
as u have logic, can u help me with hi hats? I’m trying to copy logic’s drummer hi hat into SD3. I made a topic here:

Thanks for the reply. My sd3 says it is up to date. When i drag an unedited groove to logic it had a green plus sign and when i drag one from the editor it goes away. Even when i try to drag a groove from the groove library to my desktop it works but out of the edit window it shows a no symbol. everything is working fine with ez drummer and sup2. I have been working this way for a long time and can’t figure out why it would do this.
So – the scenario is (if I understand you correctly):
– You drag a MIDI song block from the Grooves tab to the Song Track area. You can drag that MIDI song block from the song track to Logic’s song track.
– Now you double click the MIDI song block to enter Edit Play Style, and change one thing, say power hand from hi-hat to ride. Close Edit Play Style.
Now you can’t drag the MIDI song block from the track to Logic any more?

almost exactly right! except I don’t even have to actually edit anything in playstyle. Once i drag the midi song block into the song track area I can’t move it into logic. It’s so weird and frustrating. The only way I can edit something and drag it into logic is by bouncing it to an audio file or “save as midi file” but then i have to open finder and hunt it down along with having 1000s of midi files floating around my computer.
That is strange. If you start superior drummer on its own (stand alone), can you drag song blocks from the song track to your desktop?
Sorry for all the questions, but we need to know where to start looking for this weirdness 🙂
