Hi guys,
Nice mixing of EZ-drummer and Superior Drummer… However, PLEASE put “Midi Learn” shortcut button back in SD3, like in SD2. That would save a bunch of time, both for mapping custom e-drums setup – as well as programming midi files. If it’s already there somewhere, please point me in the direction.
Best wishes
Hi,
select the instrument, open the MIDI Mapping property box, select the articulation and then click the Menu as shown in the attached picture.

John

Well,
it is kind of an outdated discussion because with the introduction of SD3, the old way of “Learn”ing became obsolete.
My reply in 2017 was referring to actually remapping an instrument/articulation as it was done in SD2 and I can’t say it’s especially long-winded since the Property boxes are all available on the DRUMS page where you edit stuff. IOW, it’s a 1-2 second manoeuvre.
However, since this (actually remapping) breaks compatibility with Toontrack / GM MIDI, it isn’t recommended.
The preferred, more elegant way is to create/edit a MIDI In/E-drums MIDI Preset. This transforms incoming notes from e.g. (but not restricted to) an E-drum module to match the Toontrack mapping. You can then both have your preferred layout when playing but at the same time still use Toontrack MIDI.
Such a MIDI Preset can be saved and applied to different projects and saved to your Default Project.
If you edit the note layout on the DRUMS page, it isn’t something you easily can save and recall into other Projects.
I hope this clarifies,
John
