Only loading preset parts seems not to work here : from the moment I click to select the “Load Parts of Preset” little screen, the whole kit + mixer changes. Example :
    – in the Superior Drummer 3 library I select the kit “Big”
    – I’d like to keep the mixer but to change (only) the drum kit to “Collins Kit”
    – from the moment I click to select the “Load Parts of Preset Collins Kit”, the (whole) kit + mixer changes to “”Dirty Room”
    Something I miss ?

Instead of clicking on the “Big” preset, click on the down arrow next to the word “Big”, that will open up a pop-up window.
Uncheck “Load Drums”, then click on the “Load Drums” button at the bottom of that pop-up window.
That should change the mixer settings and efx without changing the drum set you already have loaded. There’s a video tutorial about this somewhere, I just can’t find it right now. Hope that helps!

This is exactly what I do : clicking on this little arrow and clicking again to select the “Load Parts of Preset” screen changes the whole kit+mixer even before this “Loading..” screen appears.
In the example I mentioned the “Big” kit was selected, I wanted to keep its mixer but change the drums. That does not work because the whole kit+mixer is already changed even before the opening of the “Load Parts ..” screen. So no use to check/uncheck drums/mixer or macros.
(I saw all videos on Groove3 and cannot reconstruct their way of showing this).

You can also right click on the preset and get the option

Brad, I am indeed getting the screen you show, but I get it too late : the kit is already changed. As soon as I click to select this very screen, the whole kit+mixer changes to another one. Surprise however : it only happens in the standalone version.
Up to now I did not use the VST within my DAW but only the standalone to learn to know the plugin.
I just opened the VST and everything works fine there.
    Thx.

What OS and version is SD3 running on (Windows, Mac, etc….) apologize if it’s in the thread and I didn’t see it.

I think Henrik has confirmed this in another thread as a bug fixed in an upcoming release.
The workaround is to hold down Alt/Option when you click the preset name, which is the alternate way to load parts.

I can’t replicate the same problem that you’re having. If I click on the Drum and Presets drop down menu, then click directly on the down arrow button next to the Big preset button, I’ll first get a popup option that says “Select Parts….”
After I click on “Select Parts…” I uncheck “Load Drums” and “Load Macro Controls”, leaving only “Load Mixer” (all channels) checked.
Then click on the blue “Load Parts” button.
It should NOT change your drum set, it should only change the mixer setup. I’ve done this multiple times, and it’s worked every time.

I have version 3.0.1 (build 18146). I’ve tried this both in stand-alone and as a plugin for Sonar Platinum. Each time it works as it’s supposed to.

Yes, it is a bug (on Mac) that causes the preset to load when you select “Select Parts…”. It will be fixed for the next version. As John said – pressing Alt (option) when clicking the preset will bring up the Select Parts popup without loading the preset.
