Help please! I’m using Toontrack Solo as my host, with EZdrummer as my sample source. I open EZPlayer pro to audition grooves. I build up a groove in EZPlayer pro and at the end of the process I want to save my new built up groove. How do I save my work? Having watched the EZPlayer pro tutorial (at the very end of part 1 on youtube) it says I should click on My Midifiles in the browser section and drag and drop my work into it. When I try this I get the following message – “Alert! – EZPlayer cannot get write access to this path. Please double click the folder to drag file manually” When I do this nothing happens – “double click the folder” – which folder? If I double click on the My Midifiles folder nothing happens….. I can’t drag anything. In the words of the Spencer Davis Group – “Somebody Help Me”!
Hi,
you’re on Windows, right?
Which exact OS version?
My first thought is that you are using a 32-bit version of EZplayer Pro that is trying to get access to a ‘My Midifiles’ folder in the 64-bit path.
Have you installed both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of all your Toontrack software?

John

Hi John, thanks for the quick reply, I’m on Windows 7. I have only installed the 32 bit versions of my Toontrack software. If I download the 64bit as well, does that use up twice my memory? Should I remove the 32 bit and just restore with the 64 bit? Thanks for your help so far, as you can tell I’m not wise with technology, but I love the sound of the drum samples and want to learn to use the products correctly!
Hi John, just checked and my system is Windows 7 Home Premium – 32bit operating system.
Hi,
if your OS is 32-bit, that’s all you should install.
For users that are on 64-bit OS’es, I usually recommend installing both, since it doesn’t increase disk footprint more than a few MB’s and it lets 32-bot hosts load the plug-ins even if it’s a 64-bit environment. But it also adds the risk of loading the wrong bit-version.
Anyways, that doesn’t seems to have anything to do with your problem.
Could you please launch the Toontrack Product Manager and re-install the latest version of the plug-ins?
I.e. not the Sounds, unless the Product Manager tells you there are updates available.
You are the Administrator of the PC and you’re using the Admin account for installing and running EZplayer Pro 1.2.0, Superior 2.4.4 and Toontrack solo 1.3.2?
BR,
John

Hi John, yes I am the administrator on the PC. When I launch Toontrack Product Manager, it tells me I have (1) Not Up-To-Date Product, the EZ Drummer. The EZ Drummer situation is as follows – Download (OK) Install (OK) Authorize (OK) 4 – Update
Below this it saya – “Updates downloaded” and then “Install Updates” (inside a red highlighted box)
Below this it says – “Ready to use” (with an OK tick)
When I click on Install the message appears “EZdrummer 32-bit Supplemental Update version 1.4.0 is already installed on this computer. Click Next to repair your installation or Cancel to exit this Wizard. Note that if you wish to change the product installation settings you must first remove this product using the Add/Remove Programs control panel before running this Wizard again.
So I click on Next (to repair?) and I finally receive the message “The Install Wizard has successfully installed EZdrummer 32-bit Supplemental Update. Click Finish to exit the Wizard.
That takes me back to the original Toontrack Product Manager Window and lo-and-behold, nothing has changed. It still says I have (1) Not-Up-To-Date Product, the EZDrummer! It tells me I have downloaded the update but installation status says “Not installed”
Upon checking Installation info – I notice it says under the following headings – Component – Software (version 1.4.0 installed) ; Pop/Rock EZX (version 1.0.0 installed – update available 1..4.0) ; Cocktail EZX (version 1.4.0 installed)
So it appears that my Software is up to date, my Cocktail EZX is up to date, but the rest of the EZX is failing to update for some reason? Hope this rather long info section helps solve the problem, Cheers, Alex
Hi,
if possible, could you please uninstall EZdrummer entirely via the PM and then download and run the Full installer, 547MB, followed by the update, then check your Installation info again?

John

Hi, I have uninstalled all my products via Product Manager and then re-installed all of them, a total of 7 Toontrack products. Upon checking the installation info, everything is up-to-date and ready to use. I checked every sound and “groove” and all work correctly. However, sad to say, when I tried to save a “groove” I had assembled on EZlayer, once again, after clicking on “my midifiles” and trying to drag into the browser section, I still receive the following message – “Alert! – EZPlayer cannot get write access to this path. Please double click the folder to drag file manually”
So I’m still stumped! Any ideas? Thanks, Alex
OK,
so now your installations are updated and complete and we can concentrate on your original problem.
The ‘My Midifiles’ folder should be located at ‘C:Program Files (x86)ToontrackEZdrummerMidi’.
Can you please verify that it exists and that you have read and write access to this folder?
Does it contain anything?

John

Hi again, Win-7 32 bit windows does not have programs x86
A 32 bit system only has a Programs folder
I located the “My Midifiles” folder via “C:Program FilesToontrackEZdrummerMidi” It doesn’t contain anything (“This folder is empty”).
I assume I have read and write access to this folder. So somehow I need to allow EZPlayer permission to write to this folder?
Cheers, Alex
Hi,
sorry about the (x86) reference, it just happens out of habit
On my Win7 partition, that folder contains a ‘.dummyS2’ file. Before I call in my more Windows-savvy colleagues, can you please try just uncompressing the attached ZIP file into the “C:Program FilesToontrackEZdrummerMidiMY MIDIFILES” folder?
Can you also please for visual confirmation show a screen shot where the version number of the plugins are visible?
BR,
John

Hi John, I have enclosed 7 images of the version numbers of my products and plug-ins. Upon re-checking my “My Midifiles” folder. it contains a .DUMMY file containing 0 KB. I tried unzipping your attachment but Windows message said “Windows can’t open this file”
Hi again,
let’s try another approach.
In your User’s Documents folder, please create a folder e.g. ‘My MIDI’.
Either you drag and drop this folder onto the EZplayer Browser to mount it or you go to the Menu and select ‘Add path…’.
Since this is a folder where you will store your own Toontrack plugin created MIDI, you can select ‘Ezdrummer 2’ instead of ‘Thru’ when prompted for mapping.
Select this folder first, then drag and drop from your Arranger Track.

John

Hi, OK! That’s working, apart from the fact I apparently can only save one “segment” of my groove at a time. How do I save the whole drum arrangement for the song in one fell swoop? I really appreciate your time and help so far! Thanks, Alex
