Is there a way to get these question answered directly from Toontrack? In lieu of that ideal scenario, is there a phone number I could call to get these questions answered? I do not see these questions addressed in the manual. Input from any informed sources about this would be greatly appreciated:
1. Am I legally allowed to do the following?:
Take a chord progression directly/exactly from one of EZ Keys’ midi packs
Then add my own melody (+ other completely original chord progressions)
Then copyright the song as 100% my own song?
2. If the above-described scenario is NOT legal — would I have the option of acknowledging the source of the lifted chord progression (and perhaps even ascertaining the name of the EZ Keys pianist who WROTE that chord progression) so that I could legally SHARE the copyright (50-50, whatever) to said song with the pianist who contributed that chord progression the EZ Keys midi pack library? If this would be the way to proceed, please advise.
3. Or: would I be able to copyright the above-described song as my own — but I’d have to acknowledge the use of a “SAMPLE” (I’ve never used any samples in any of my other copyrighted material). If THIS is how such a scenario is best handled, please advise me as to how I should proceed.
