On my new PC, every time I opened EZ drummer 2, I was getting the following message: “This EZ Drummer is not the latest installed on this system. The version you should be using can be found here: C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3Toontrack”
I would click the OK button and go ahead and select midi from the browser but today I went to use the Search tab and got this message “This version is not the latest installed on your system. Contact support for more information.”
Well, I tried uninstalling all EZ Drummer versions from my system and then reinstalling the program. I’ve discovered that running the update WIN_211 immediately after installation seems to crash the program so I’ve just reinstalled EZ Drummer 2 again. It now runs but I still have the same alerts listed above. I get the alerts both in stand-alone and as a VST instrument in Cubase 8.
How is it possible that the ONLY version I have installed is not the latest version installed? Are there leftover files after the uninstall, maybe somewhere other than in the Toontrack folders, that I have to remove?
I am about to try installing the update but I have to restart the computer. I will post an update after restart.
UPDATE: running the update causes EZ drummer stand-alone to crash and to crash Cubase 8 when run as a VST instrument.
ANY help in solving this issue would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi,
please start with searching for ‘ezdrummer.dll’ on your system and delete all instances that show up.
Next, please try the following:
you need to remove some files in the ‘AppDataRoaming’ folder. This is a hidden folder but you can open the Windows Explorer and type in ‘C:UsersyourComputerUserNameHereAppData’ to access it, or click Start > Computer > Hold ALT + T to get the tools menu open > Folder Options > View > Enable “Show hidden files, folders and drives” and Untick “Hide protected operating system files”. I would prefer the first way myself.
Then please remove the following files:
MidiDB, MidiDB_fav, MidiDB-shm, MidiDB-wal (if they exist) from
“C:/Users/”CurrentUser”/AppData/Roaming/Toontrack/EZdrummer”
and
“C:/Users/”CurrentUser”/AppData/Roaming/Toontrack/EZdrummer/OnlineMIDI”
After this, please run the EZdrummer 2.1.1 updates again.

I finally got time to get back to this, find the response and do the steps. Thank you for the clear directions John. That did the trick!
