Well, in BFD or Addictive Drums 2 I would do it in the Map editor, but unfortunately it doesn’t appear EZD has that functionality. The next step would be to do it via your Alesis drum module, through trigger assignments. I have just been reading the DM10 manual, and unfortunately it says that the Hi Hat and the Ride are the only 2 kit pieces that you CANT change the assignment of, so I am guessing that the DM6 will be the same. I think you may be out of luck. But you would be able to work around it by editing the midi later in your DAW, basically using the Ride as a crash, and then moving all the Ride notes to a second Crash cymbal, to make it sound more like a crash, you could make sure you hit the ‘Bow” articulation, which would be relatively easy, and picking the best ride for that sound, at least that would work under the circumstances I think, then as you planned overdub your ride if you are using it.

What DAW are you using ? I will think more on it, and there are other ways, depending, but it would require more effort than the above,

Awesome, thank you for the detailed reply. Very creative way to a solution. As for my DAW, well, I don’t use one really.. For drums, I go from my computer to Scarlett 6i6, and from there, I go analog out, into my analog mixing console, the Allen & Heath GL2400. From the Allen/Heath, I go to a good old dedicated hard disc recorder, the Tascam MX2424. (I don’t employ the MX2424’s software, I just choose not to, in order to stay “out of the box” for tracking and mixing.. and for computer compatibility reasons as well)

    So, no DAW.
I think they call that SOLO, or just, ezdrummer/Scarlett are “their own hosts” (?) thru Scarlett Mix Control..

So, I think u may be right, without a DAW I may be out of luck.

The good news is, I have at least 3, or even more hard disc recorder tracks reserved just for drum overdubs!

Thanks again, so much. Will let u know how the drum tracks progress. dan
