Maybe this question’s been answered, or stupid. Or both.
In EZDrummer, if I use 127 snare hits in a track, with the first hit at velocity 1, the second at velocity 2, and so on up to 127, am I hearing 127 different samples? Or are some duplicates? And if some are duplicates, which?
Same q for every other component of the kit.
Thanks.
Hi,
that’s not how it works.
First, I do not think that any Sound library has the same amount of samples for each instrument and articulation. SDX:s do have more than EZX:s.
Second, samples are divided into pools depending on their hit strength and then the engine picks among samples in a pool and send it out with a strength/loudness corresponding to the incoming MIDI.

Thanks.
1) Is EZDrummer designed so that two consecutive snare hits (for example) will use two different samples? Or might both hits use the same sample?
2) If I want the track to play different snare samples, am I better off varying velocities or using the same velocity throughout? Or does it not matter?
EZdrummer will ensure that two consecutive snare hits won’t be the same – in most cases, e.g. we have some special libraries where it’s suposed to not sound different, some instruments in Electronic EZX for example.
If you play 2 hits in a row with velocity 110 for example, our acoustic drums will give you 2 different samples to avoid the audible “machine gun” effect. If you vary your velocity the drum sounds will be different in volume.

But EZDrummer will use different samples for the two hits, whatever velocities I enter?
