I was using the Hip Hop kit “Neptunus” preset and tried to add a hi-hat from the electronic pads to the left of the snare, below the hi-hat. When I select a hi-hat sound and try to use the add knob in edit play style it just adds hi-hat midi data as if I selected the hi-hat on the kit itself.
I’m using EZ Drummer 2 in standalone mode on a Mac Pro, 32 GB RAM, OSX 10.8.5
It works as expected here. I’m using the Windows 2.1.1 (64-bit) version.
Did you change the Power Hand to the HH Open articulation?

No, I selected the pad in Edit Play Style and clicked the “plus” button to add more of that particular articulation of the hi-hat hit on the sampled pad.

Was there any MIDI originally on that pad? If so, you should be able to + the articulation. If there was no MIDI data for that articulation in the MIDI, clicking the + shouldn’t add anything as nothing was there in the first place.
If there is MIDI data on the hi hat and it’s the Power Hand, if you drag the Power Hand to the HH Open pad (it’s the pad I *think* you are talking about) the hats part will then change to that sound and the + will add hits.
