I’ve recently begun working with EZKeys, and I love it! But one thing that has me confused is the slight difference between the standalone mode, and how it operates in Pro Tools.
For example, I like to write in standalone mode, and then I save my work as an EZKP file. However, I can’t figure out how to access this file in Pro Tools – the only thing I can apparently do is export my standalone composition as MIDI, and then bring the MIDI into Pro Tools. That’s okay, but then I no longer see the individual blocks of EZKeys song sections that I was working with; instead it’s now one long uninterrupted block.
Is there a way to bring an EZKP file into Pro Tools? Or is MIDI the only option?
Thanks for your help!
This is a feature that we have on our to do list, since it’s should be able to (as in your case) to write a song in stand alone mode and continue to work on it in a host (Pro Tols or similar).
There is a temporary way around it though – when you have your EZkeys set up as you like it in standalone mode, go to Menu and select “Set as Default Project”. If you now open up a new instance of EZkeys in Pro Tools (add EZkeys as a new instrument), it will have the same settings and the same MIDI on track as when you selected “Set as Default Project” – e.g. you can continue to work on your MIDI track.
EZkeys will start with these settings until the next time you select “Set as Default Settings”.

Thanks, Henrik –
The problem with that workaround is that I tend to write on my laptop in Standalone mode, but the ProTools rig is on a different desktop computer. So I usually move files from one machine to the other on a USB drive or via email. Do you know of any workarounds for moving an EZKeys project between two computers, other than exporting to MIDI?
Thanks again for your help – much appreciated!

you could save the project to DropBox or GoogleDrive on the 1st PC and open similarly open it from DropBox or GoogleDrive on the 2nd desktop.
