Hi. Have connected the AKAI via USB. Have set it as the MIDI device in settings (so I assume the computer has recognised it?). Have matched up MIDI out to match a MIDI channel in EZ2….have transposed the keyboard all over the place to try and find the drum notes where they might be……..nothing..Am using Windows 7, only using EZ2 in standalone mode. no other program or anything like that. Can someone give me dummy’s set of instructions/what I’m doing wrong? Can a MIDI keyboard be used to trigger EZ keys also? If so, how? many thanks in advance.Graeme
Each time a MIDI note is received in EZdrummer 2, the “MIDI In” text in the lower right corner will light up. Does it light up when you press a key on your keyboard?
This is what my MIDI settings looks like when I use my Akai keyboard:

Btw, did you know that you can see what notes each drum is using? Open drum settings, for the snare for example, press the “Details” button and a list will be shown with the keys/notes that are used. The note/key pressed on your keyboard will be shown in the bottom (“MIDI In”)

Thanks Henrik, will try to implement and let you know how I go. many thanks, Graeme
Henrik; being a bit techno illiterate, can I go back to first principles?……does my computer need some sort of MIDI in port? I’m just connecting the AKAI by USB…..do I also have to have some MIDI in gizmo to connect it to the computer? I’ll bet I need some other stupid gizmo!??, anything to do with computers is so cumbersome and convoluted! Give me my nice and simple Roland VS 2480!!!!! cheers, Graeme
Hi,
connecting via USB would be sufficient. The MPK25 should be class compliant so you shouldn’t need any drivers.
Do you have the check box(es) checked for the MPK25 under your Settings in EZdrummer 2/EZkeys?

Thanks John. Yes have all the MIDI/Audio boxes ticked to the Akai (so the computer is recognising it I assume). I’ll try a few other things, and make sure all the kind advice submitted here is implemented and get back to you. Thanks for replying, appreciated.

thanks for taking the time to answer and help. I downloaded ASIO, later finding the culprit the whole time was a faulty USB cable. All working as it should now. kind regards, Graeme from Australia
