Hi,
After installing the EZD 2 update whenever I tried adding it as an instrument in Cubase (7.5.30) a popup tells me the plugin can’t be found and should be in path XYZ. My plugins have NEVER been in that location but I was not asked where it should be placed during the update. It was easy to fix by just copying the DLL into the required path, which actually didn’t even exist and I had to create it. Why does the update insist on the DLL being in a specific location whereas before the update EZD was happy for me to place the DLL in my usual VSTPlugins folder. I now have two locations for my plugins which is not ideal.
Hi,
manually moving the dll post initial install isn’t supported.
Please run a Search for ‘ezdrummer.dll’ on your system and delete any entries. Either uninstall and reinstall to get the option to Custom install the dll file to your desired location, or reinstall and point your host to pick up the path to where the dll resides.

Thanks for your reply. My problem is NOT how to make it work or HOW to direct my DAW to see it… I was more concerned with WHY this has only become a problem since installing the most recent update. I have been an EZD user since V1 and have never had any such issues. Perhaps you could point me to a registry entry?
Many thanks
Well,
such actions as moving/copying the dll file(s) and hacking the registry are on the top list of things that are making users contact Support or posting here wondering why their product(s) stopped working. It has never been supported and I think I would be roasted by my Support colleagues if I encouraged you.

Hi John,
I think the terminology used is a little strong! Hacking, in the context of computers, means exploiting and working around computer/software security. Changing entries in the Registry do not, in my humble opinion, fall into that category. The Registry is often regarded as a ‘no-go’ area and that may well be the safe option for the average/novice user…. it is, however, a simple database of settings that used to reside within INI files back in the day, prior to Win95.
Going back to my original post though I am still at a loss to know why the EZD update is having problems finding the DLL whereas previously, even going back to version 1, it was not an issue? The location it was looking for didn’t even exist! If something as fundamental as this has been changed in this most recent update it is, in my opinion, a mistake.
Again, I’m not asking for help to get my system working, It’s all working just fine. I don’t need to uninstall/re-install, etc., I was simply asking why?
Cheers
Dave
