Hello everyone,
I tried to update my EZDrummer (Windows, 64-Bit) from version 1.3.2 to version 1.4.0. But if start the update I get the error “EZdrummer 1.3 needs to be installed before you can install this update.” I don’t want to re-install the version 1.3.2, so what else could I do?
Thanks
Which installer are you running (32-bit or 64-bit)? Are you running the correct updater for the 1.3.2 version you are running? For example, are you running the 64-bit updater for the EZD 64-bit 1.3.2 (if that is the version you have installed)? What version number shows in your EZD? Can you post a pic? What version of Windows are you running?

I’m using the 64-bit version of EZDrummer 1.3.2 and I’m trying to run the 64-bit version of the installer. The number shown in the EZDrummer is 1.3.2
I’m using Windows 7, 64-bit.
Your pic shows the 32-bit version. The 64-bit version would read ‘1.3.2 (64-bit)’.

Has the original .dll been moved from its original install location? Can you search your computer for ezdrummer.dll files? If it’s been moved, manually delete them and run the 1.4.0 update.

The ezdrummer.dll was in the folder C:\Programs(x86)VstPluginsToontrack. I deleted this file now, but I still get the same error if I try to install the 32-bit version as well as if I try to install the 64-bit version…
Was that the only EZdrummer.dll file on your computer? An x86 location is a 32-bit location.

I’ve also had a ezdrummer.dll in my “Cubase”-folder. But after deleting this file the error still appeared…
So, is there any possible solution for my problem or do I have to accept that I can’t install updates anymore on EZDrummer?
I see that you’ve purchased the EZD 2 upgrade. Have you installed it? Are you using EZD 2? You wouldn’t need to install an EZD 1 update if you’ve installed EZD 2. EZD 1 and EZD 2 can’t exist on the same system (if .dlls haven’t been moved manually after install). The EZD 2 will replace EZD 1.

I’ve had EZDrummer 2 installed, but I unsinstalled it because it also did not work the way it should. So I’ve only EZDrummer 1 installed right now
Well, my only suggestion at this point is to fully uninstall EZdrummer and make sure there are no ezdrummer.dlls anywhere on your system and do a full install with the 1.3.2 download from your Toontrack account. Then try the 1.4.0 update.

Okay, took 2 hours of my life now, but after uninstalling EZDrummer and all the add-ons (EZDrummer Rock! etc.) I’ve finally been able to install the update. I hope future updates will be easier to install…
I too, cannot update my EZDrummer. When I finally got the upgrade zip file and went to install it, the PC told me I needed to uninstall my current version, which I did. But then, the upgrade would not install (error 1309, or some crap). The entire process nearly crashed one of my PCs and I ended up having to do a full system restore just to get the original program back. I AM NOT HAPPY. So…One: Why are we forced to uninstall our current version MANUALLY to upgrade? Obviously, for many people, this is a pain in the butt. And…Two: Why aren’t we notified when updates are available through email? This whole process should be a lot simpler. I AM NOT HAPPY.
The Error 1309 is due to running the installer without extracting the contents of the .zip file first.
My guess is the OP had installed the Pop/Rock EZX with EZdrummer 2 and then ‘downgraded’ to EZdrummer 1. That caused the initial error as the Pop/Rock EZX was never meant to reside on a system with EZdrummer 1, only EZD2.
Anyways, the reason I recommended to the OP to uninstall and make sure there were no ezdrummer.dlls on the system was to start from scratch to fix the problem. Which did solve the problem.
Lairdo, I don’t see from your account details that you’ve downloaded the 1.4.0 update (named ‘EZdrummer_Update_WIN_140.zip’) at all. What have you downloaded?
