Hello Toontrackers,
I found out that there are slots also of other EZX-packs (except “Electronic” – https://www.toontrack.com/forum/ezdrummer-help/ezx-electronic-bugs-with-ezd2/#p145811 ) that are not assigned to any midi note in Roland e-drum mode.
I need Roland mode because of the hihat ( because there is no midi note mapped for variable edge -like in SD2- but only for vatiable tip (HH Variable – midi note 20 = G#-1).
As an example I found the slot “Spock” of EZX Metal Machine that is not assigned in Roland mode. As a workaround I can choose “Spock” sounds in other EZD2 MM cymbal slots, but I have a huge e-drum kit and as a result then there are cymbals missing. So I have to play e-drums with EZD2 plugged in two times in my DAW and that is not very comfortable.
I buy EZX-packs with big kits and many slots to fit my huge e-drum hardware – so it’s a great pity if slots are missing!
So why not implement a midi note for variable hihat edge?!
Sounds like you have a big, “non-standard”, e-drum kit, which you are happy
to change the MIDI mapping for. In that case you don’t really need the EZ2
e-drum modes. They do not make any new articulations available in the MIDI
mapping. They only change some MIDI notes into others.

…but what about the missing variable hihat edge I mentioned?? Let´s take EZX Metal Machine for an example. Please tell me which midi note triggers the variable hihat tip and which one the variable edge?? (when not having set any e-drum mode)
I cannot find anything like that in the MM keyboard layout. I thought I had to switch to “Roland” mode to get this variable e-drum hats!.
So not having a variable tip and edge is really out of the question for a modern drum software (even if it’s EZy).

-> amendment: G#-1 is only the variable tip for the EZD2 stock libraries.

Its not missing. As good as all our sound libraries have the same basic
MIDI mapping. When it comes to the cc-controlled hihat it is:
hatsTrig: 7, 18
hatsTipTrig: 8, 19
hatsBellTrig: 9, 20
Exceptions are Electronic and Percussion that don’t have hihats.

Thanks a lot!!! I’ll check this. I would not have started this post (and tested for several hours) if I could find this documented in the EZX keyboard layout…but there is nothing written about these articulations and midi notes. Why??????
