I see there are a lot of cool ways to augment a midi groove in EZ Drummer 2…
Is there an EZ way to delete a a single note?
You can always zoom in on it and separate the groove on both sides of the particular hit and then right-click and select to Remove the Kit piece in question. When done, just select the parts again and Merge.

Nice!! I wish I’d come up with that one.
…and it’ll work as nicely for selectively adding a hit or two or three to a particular selection of a groove taking it into “Edit Play Style”.
what a complicated way of deleting a midi note. Why can’t there simply be a delete function. Also why can’t the search function by more intuitive – I’d like to be able to filter on any column so i can narrow down the results more easily. It’s far easier to use my DAW to create a drum track and only reference EZD2 when I need a fill or something. Disappointed,
????
You CAN filter on any column, all columns, by one or multiple selections within a column
as well as excluding any selection within any or all columns.
pg 14 of the EZDrummer2 Operation Manual.
well actually no you can’t. I’m well aware of the filtering options but what about filtering on family, bars, name? when I’m presented with a list of 100 samples to wade through I’d like to at least exclude the ones I probably won’t want to hear.
sorry, yes, you’re right.
I guess with the ability to filter on LIBRARY precluded me from considering a desire to filter on FAMILY.
and # of BARS should be an available filter.
I’d love to see Toontrack include a grid-style filter like the one in ADDICTIVE DRUMS 2 for those of us who can pencil a basic groove quicker than tap one.
Still, I am loving the new features in EZDrummer2, especially the Edit Play Style functions. IMO, it was easily worth the upgrade from EZD1.
I guess so but it’s just so frustrating when really simple things take up so much time – for instance if you accidentally put too many kicks in tap 2 find you need to wipe the kick and start again. Why can’t you just delete the wrong note???? I’d also like the ability to manually create grooves or edit grooves by changing each note. It means I have to export to midi before I can do anything like this.
Agreed. It would be awesome if Toontrack would eventually build out EZDrummer2 to include more MIDI creating/editing functions
especially now that it’s gone standalone.
I will say that since Toontrack’s inclusion of Tap2Find and the other new SEARCH functions, and Edit Play Style functions,
I’ve actually been more actively attempting to build my own grooves. And with practice, I might become adequate at doing it.
But it’s also these new features in EZDrummer2 are what also made me go looking for an EZ MIDI Editor/Step Recorder,
beyond the painstakingly tedious piano rolls found in Logic or Pro Tools.
Afterwhich, I could take my basic groove(s) into EZDrummer2 to search thru the thousands of professionally-played grooves I’ve purchased.
The grid-style filter system in Addictive Drums 2 is a nice start but only functions as a filter tool.
iDrum from Izotope is a basic drum groove builder but including something like a combination of these 2 into EZDrummer2 would go a long, long way for me.
DM1 from Fingerlab is another but doesn’t offer MIDI export. (It does offer MIDI Send Out but I haven’t spent enough time with it to see if I can send it to EZD2.)
