I’m recording a song with only 8 tracks so far using EZMix and I find that when I use certain Ambient presets the CPU takes a big hit. I’m using a iMac 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 32 GB of Ram. Fusion Drive, etc. So I should have enough power to run a few instances of EZMix, etc. However, when I chose some presets on the Ambient pack the performance meter goes from 1/8 to almost 1/2 CPU Usage. With a few more effects I start to get cracks and pops. The EZmix instance is in Mono and I am using EZDrummer 2 as well. The only other effect is Cubase REVerence. In this case I am using the “Church Amp” preset which seems to be the problem (same with Ambient Amp 1 and 2 presets). When I choose another preset such as “Chorus Guitar” from EZMix1 or even “Bitcrush Amp” from Ambient) it retreats back to 1/8 cpu usage. Am I doing something wrong or is this preset a CPU hog? I love the Ambient pack… its sounds great but all the presets I use seem to be CPU heavy and will limit my amount of tracks.
