I can assure you that all the different articulations are documented… if you feel notes marked as ‘alias’ produce a different sounds that would be because it’s a different sample than the one you heard earlier using the other note. In particular there are no longer ‘left’ and ‘right’ hits in the Modern and Vintage sound libraries, they are gathered under the same subset of samples.

You can review the available articulations using the Edit Play Style window.

Thanks. Regret it took so long for me to respond but I have been denied access to this forum until today.

You say all of the different articulations are documented. You say there are no longer “left” and “right” hits in the Modern and Vintage libraries.

    I accept that.

You also say “if you feel notes marked as ‘alias’ produce a different sound that would be because it’s a different sample than the one you heard earlier using the other note.”

So there are multiple samples in each individual drum pool. But they’re not “different articulations” or “left” and “right” hits.

I’ll reword the question: Does a keyboard map exist that shows how to trigger all of the different samples?

For example: Let’s say I’m editing a drum track in my Reaper DAW using the Reaper midi editor. I want to build a drum roll on the snare so I enter 10 snare hits in a row. I don’t want it to sound like a machine gun. I want to use alternating snare samples to make it sound more human. Which piano roll keyss trigger the alternate snare sample, please? And which piano roll keys trigger alternate samples of all the other drums and cymbals?

If you click ‘Menu’ at the top of EZD2 and Sound Libraries, you should see all the libraries you have. Mousing over a libraries should give you the option to open the ‘MIDI Layout’.

You do not need to program ‘alternate snare samples’. The sample engine automatically cherry picks the samples so the same sample is never played in succession. It’s ‘EZ’ ;-)

go it. so the next question is:

i use reaper DAW. when building a drum part i use the reaper midi editor. if i build a snare drum roll inside the reader midi editor and program 5 or 7 or 9 snare drum hits in a row it sure sounds like the same hit being played machine gun style. does the sample engine only automatically cherry pick samples if i do my editing in EZD2?

No. Even if you feed the same 8 or 9 snare drum hits (velocity set to 120 for example) it will not sound like a machine gun.

Think of EZD 2 like a player piano and the MIDI as the ‘piano roll’. You’re feeding the MIDI into the player (EZD2). The player makes the sound. This happens whether you’re feeding it MIDI from inside EZD2 or from your DAW.
