I downloaded Toontrack Solo because of this in the product description:
“It is particularly suited for musicians wanting to jam along with a friend (real ones if you are a drummer or a virtual one if you are a guitarist)”
I am a guitarist, so I assumed this meant that I could launch Solo build up some grooves to play over from my library, and then jam along with it. However, I cannot find how to do this in Solo. All I can do is play a single groove/sample and while it can be left to loop infinitely, looping a single 4 or 8 bar sample isn’t exactly jamming along with a virtual drummer as the description would lead me to believe I can do.
Am I missing something or is the meaning in this description not the same as I take it to be? If not, what does this mean exactly, that a guitarist can jam along with a virtual drummer? How?
Confused…
Well, if you’re not the drummer playing the groove yourself, I guess that description refers to the EZplayer Pro plugin that has been included with Superior 2 and seamlessly integrated in Toontrack solo.
In your case, I guess it gets old quick with just being able to loop one groove at a time while playing guitar.
I recommend checking out a few free host alternatives like e.g. Reaper.

There is also a really good free DAW called Audacity which has a built-in midi sequencer. You can drag any number of loops over and have them play in order.
You can also google .mid +files and find thousands of free midi versions of thousands of songs. I used to download a bunch of these and edit out everything but the drums. Edit a bunch of songs that you like and then play them through Solo.
You can also play them through General MIDI using Media player if your soundcard supports General Midi. (Most of them do.) If you have a midi keyboard they’ll sound better.
They won’t sound as good as through Solo with some decent monitors though.
Edit out everything but drums and bass and put together a practice play list using Audacity? I used to do a lot of that.

I already have and use Reaper extensively but I thought the whole point of Solo was to NOT have to launch a DAW and host a plugin there.
…and REAPER is NOT free!!
If you have REAPER, I’d do it that way, it’s the easiest way by far.
TT Solo’s main feature is low latency for live playing with a drum kit, there is no advantage over REAPER for what you want to do with it AFAIK, unless you’re jamming along with a live drummer.
If you’re adventurous, try using Jamstix to generate the MIDI to play EZD. It”ll ramp up and down the playing intensity according to your playing volume
