Today I got my EzDrummer cd. I installed the program, updated to the 32 bit version and then to the 64 bit version. Then I rebooted my system like I was asked to. I am using windows 8 (64 bit).
In Cubase I add a vst instrument track and select EzDrummer.
If I click the button to show the Ezdrummer plugin i get the error :
EzDrummer cannot find the sound files! Reinstall EzDrummer or move the sounds to:
UninstalledPlug.
I did a reinstall, but still with the same results.
Toontrack solo has no problem and I am able to use EzDrummer there, But not in my DAW, where I need to use it.
Any ideas what to do now?
I forgot to mention that I didn’t get to authorize my project because of the error.
You say you can load Ezdrummer in Solo. You should be able to authorize from Solo. Did the authorization window pop up when you first loaded Ezdrummer in Solo?
If Ezdrummer works as expected in Solo, check the plugin path in Solo and make sure Cubase is using the same Ezdrummer. I assume you are using 64-bit Solo, Cubase, and Ezdrummer. What version number is showing in Ezdrummer in Solo?

Under Devices>Plug-In Information in Cubase have you tried clicking Update and then Update Plugin Information?

I will try that tonight when I get home, thanx for the tip.
I will let you know it that worked for me.
I use 64 bit Cubase, 64 bit Toontrack solo and 64 bit ezdrummer.
This is the error I am getting in Cubase upon opening the plugin. I have assigned it as a vst instrument and if I click it to change the properties I get this error:
Toontrack solo says version 1.3.2, also does the plugin in cubase after I click away the error. Here a screenshot of toontrack solo and vst path.
Here is the strange thing. The plugin in Cubase says 1.3.2 in the ezdrummer window(after i click away the error).
The vst path is the same as in toontrack solo. But the cubase vst properties tell me it is version 1.0.0.0(see screenshot)
I also tried update the plugin information, but that doesn’t change anything. It still keeps saying version 1.0.0.0 in the vst plugin properties.
Don’t worry about the ‘1.0.0.0’ version number in Cubase, it means nothing important.
What I’m curious about is that the version number in all of your pics is for the 32-bit version and not the 64-bit version. Your path ‘(x86)’ is also for a 32-bit version directory. You can tell you are using the latest 64-bit version of the plugin when the version number reads ‘1.3.2 (64-bit)’.
By default, the 64-bit version of Toontrack plugins goes to ‘C:Program FilesVstPluginsToontrack64bit’. Can you check that directory and see if there is a .dll located there?
What is strange most is the bit-bridge in Cubase should load the 32-bit version of EZdrummer without issue. What is the exact version number of Cubase you are using?

I am using Cubase 5.1.1.
I don’t have the directory ‘C:Program FilesVstPluginsToontrack64bit’. When I installed the 64 bit of ezdrummer, i could select an install path and I chose the ‘(x86)’ path because that is where most of the vst plugins were.
That is also the only place where I have the ezdrummer dll as far as I can see. But what is strange is that the toontrack solo also uses the 32 bit version according to you, while I am 100 % positive I start the 64 bit version of toontrack solo
I also had an old version of Reaper on my pc, and it has exactly the same problem with the Ezdrummer plugin. As soon as I select it as a vst instrument it gives me the same error as the first screenshot.
Well, to check the version number of Solo, click ‘Help’ and ‘About Toontrack Solo’.
Also, if you have Cubase 5.1, I’m not sure if there was an ‘official’ 64-bit version or if it was just a 64-bit public beta. I know that version 6 and higher was 64-bit.

By default, the 64-bit Solo installs to C:Program FilesToontrackToontrack solo.

Scott, Cubase 5 is 64 bit. He is running an older version . The latest update is 5.5.3. However, it appears that EZ Drummer is being loaded in Cubase but is not finding the sound files. Now the problem may be that he is running a 64 bit host and loading from a 32 bit (X86) folder. I would suggest uninstalling EZ Drummer and when the prompt ask for were to install the 64 bit dll to set the path: Program files/Steinberg/Cubase 5/vst plugins. Cubase by default (provided he puts that path back in) will load any plugins in that folder. I still think the problem lies in the sound files not being in the location EZ Drummer is looking to load them. Also from the looks of the plugin page above he is loading 32 bit plugins in Cubase. Not sure if he is running 32 bit host or 64 bit. If it is in fact 64 bit the path set is not correct. Again it should be program files/steinberg/vst plugins. The information being provided is very confusing.
