Hello everyone I have just now dived into the computer recording world and for years have used drum machines to do my programming. A lot of the guitar riffs I work around need custome beats and I’m more comfortable programming a machine than just dragging and dropping midi beats. I like to be more creative than what’s provided. I would like to use my BOSS DR 880 as a controller and play my beats through EZ Drummer because of the ability to seperate the drums to different channels and extra’s like cymbal chokes not available on drum machines. So here’s my question.
Can I midi map my BOSS’s 3 banks of drum pads with EZ Drummer Midi? I have heard that this is not possible with EZ Drummer but is with Superior drummer. I like everything about my set up except that some of the pads don’t line up with EZ Drummer’s kit sounds. What do I need to do to accomplish this? For instance tom2 on my BOSS only sounds tom 1 on EZ Drummer and I want to change that so tom 2 on my BOSS sounds tom 2 on EZD. Thank you.
I would be interested in how to use the DR-880 to trigger Toontrack EZ Drummer samples. I wrote a bunch of songs using the DR-880 as the drum machine but now that I have heard Toontracks great samples, the DR-880’s sound lame in comparison.
It is not possible to remap the notes triggered within EZdrummer, if that is what you meant, no. But there are certainly ways to do that using most sequencers and if it is for playback purposes this shouldn’t had latency that may have been problematic trying to transform the input notes received.
… this is beyond the scope of our support however, but if you let people know what sequencer you are using then perhaps someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

The OP stated:

Is this true?
@Veech:
No, you can not re-assign notes in EZdrummer as you can in Superior 2.

Hi there, I’d like to add some questions to this myself.
I’ve been able to send midi from my DR880 into Sonar. Use EZDrummer to play the midi. However, as with Bludgeoningdeath, I’ve noticed that the notes don’t always line up.
I’ve been told that I can create a drum map. However, I’m not exactly sure what that means and or how to do it. What would read the drum map? Is it EZDrummer? Or would it be Sonar? I know Sonar can do drum mapping, but not sure if it can do that against EZDrummer.
Or is nothing like this possible with EZDrummer at all?
Thanks anyone for your help!
Hi,
check out the ‘Extra Downloads’ for EZdrummer. User contributed drum maps can be found there.
