it would definitely be a CPU issue. If the issue comes from the hats work specifically then possibly adjusting the resolution of the foot controller within the module to minimize the amount of data sent may help… but hard to say without looking at the setup first hand. The point though is that upgrading your RAM is very unlikely to improve anything.

    Oh, that’s bad news!

Follow-up question: what would be a sufficient hardware setup for a Macbook? Would a Macbook2,1 be allright?

there is no right answer here, obviously your setup is enough when playing through solo (which is one of the major reason it was designed in fact, to minimize host resources). It also depends on your playing style, blastbeats at 300bpm with a gazillion cymbal hits will require more CPU time to handle all the voices than an 80 bpm simple rock backbeat.

mmh, good point. I was hoping someone might have some first hand experience with older macbooks…

Well, I tried upgrading the RAM anyway. Alas, it’s working now! So I ‘ve spent only $30 and I’m fine!
