Hi Everyone,
I just bought EZKeys, and also think that the number and type of included patterns is a bit thin. Does anyone know of other sources online for good, usable midi patterns (whether free or paid)? I know that I can drag and drop any midi song, but I am really trying to find midi files that would be useful as patterns. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I am aware of those, and will likely pick them up (although I read here, I think, that this expansion only includes about 25% of the midi patterns that come with EZ Keys). Any other sources online that somebody could recommend
For example, I am thinking about this: http://www.prosonic-studios.com/Midi-Progressions-Details.aspx?lngCollectionID=76. Perhaps I could buy this, try to find some solo piano accompaniment styles in BIAB to create interesting piano-like phrases from these progressions, and then import the midi files generated by BIAB to EZKeys. I was hoping, though, that this is what EZKeys would be able to do for me. I guess my issue is that as a non-piano player I was hoping for some more variety in the actual playing of the chords.

It’s still a substantial amount if you dig deep.

I tried a few of the download demos. Basically they are notation i.e. there is nobody playing them, there is no pedaling, no dynamics etc. For me, part of what I am paying for with EZ keys is the real pianist. The thing that you linked to is merely patterns. If you used them in a song it would sound like a quantized, step-sequenced borefest.
There are tons of midi files on the net. Midi is midi. The key is to find files with some symmetry so they will work. Chords have to be 4 (or more) notes and laid out so that the changes are on the measure or half-measure in order to do the transpositions. Many midi files don’t have pedaling, so you would have to add it. Hopefully you can find some with real people playing. The nice thing about the EZ Keys files is that they are already sliced up in phrases with pedaling intact.
I agree with everything you said. I don’t think I would use these chord progressions on their own. My thought was to maybe run them through Band in a Box to try and get some interesting playing in the progressions, and then try to slice them up. Although there are many many midi files on the internet, I have found it difficult to find some that are easy to isolate into grooves because of the factors you mention. I will pick up the expansion pack, but am hoping that there is more variety in the playing in the songs provided than there is in the midi included with EZKeys.
These sound promising, though I don’t own any –

I’ve got the Pianoloops for Film&TV and it works fine with EZkeys.
It does contain Sustain data and IMHO the MIDI sounds a lot better when used with EZkeys than their demo

There is a free downloadable demo pack on their site. I did it and it works very well. In fact, it’s a nice lil addition to what I have already. Thanks fizbin, I owe you one!

DISCLAIMER: I put these in a file in EZKeys. As I was auditioning them, my computer froze. Whether that is a fault of my computer, the loops, or EZ Keys I can’t tell, so Caveat Emptor.
Froze, like a spontaneous reboot, or just took a long time to become responsive, or the app froze and crashed, computer seemed to freeze, but bounced back after the app crashed?
What folder (path) did you place the MIDI files in?
Also, can you repro the crash or was it a one time thing?

Froze and crashed, had to reboot my computer. I made a new file under “my favorites” and stuck the files in there. I just tried them all, it acted normal so I’m assuming it was a one time thing. I had quite a few vst’s open and don’t have a powerful computer so maybe I pushed too hard.
I downloaded the free samples and they are wave files not miidi???
Any idea what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks

There are free midis and free wavs on the site. I’m gonna take a wild guess and say you downloaded the wavs.
