I’m so mad can anyone help me please…? I’ve been trawling thru the net trying to solve what seems to me to be a basic request.
All i am trying to do is record myself playing my alesis DM10 with the EZdrummer sounds.
After a long while I’ve managed to sync or configure the e-kit to the corresponding kit voices in EZdrummer but I’ve spent days trying to work out how to record my efforts. I’ve tried it in Audacity…Live 8 and mix pad by NHC…all to no avail and I’m goin insane…………i’m probably doing something basic wrong but what?
please help!!!!!
hittman1885,
Please start only one thread with your question. I’ll leave this one here as it is in the correct forum but I’ll remove the others to keep replies from being missed in the various other threads.

I use Cubase 4.
I load EZdrummer as a VST instrument in the VST rack. I create a MIDI track and select my MIDI input devise in the ‘MIDI IN’ on that track. I set EZdrummer in ‘MIDI OUT’ on that track. I click the monitoring button on that track and hit my Zendrum (my MIDI devise). I record away.
If you have a specific host you are working with, please post more info.
Please include what you have tried. For instance, have you selected your MIDI interface in your host? How do you have your DM10 connected to your computer? Is your host receiving MIDI from your DM10?
In addition, which version number is displayed in the EZdrummer interface?

I’m using the trial of Live 8….the DM10X is connected via a usb cable..ezdrummer is version 1.2.0
When i open live 8 select a midi track place ezdrummer in there..set the input to ‘all ins” and output to ‘master” hit record and nothin happens….I can hear the drums in my headphones but its not registering in live 8………….
How long have you had the Live trial version installed? I think I read somewhere that after 30 days it starts shutting off some of the basic features.
I guess if they didn’t do that no one would ever pay for the software.
BUT – I’ve never really used Live. I do have a free version of it that came with one of my controllers or something. I also haven’t used a Mac for ten years so I won’t be very helpful, I’m afraid.
I just thought I would mention the limitations of the trial version. (If I remember correctly)
It’s worth consideration.

why are you not updated all the way up to the current version, 1.3.1? It should not have anything to do with your problem, but running a (fairly) outdated version is not particularly useful.
Anyhow, in Live, as in many hosts, you have to record arm your track to designate it as a signal you wish to record. I believe you must have that enabled otherwise you would not hear the drums when you hit them, but if not that it the last control on the mixer channel in what they call the Session View selector. Then you not only have to hit record, but the play button as well to get the ‘tape running (in record mode)’.
Keep in mind I am not a Live expert, and your question would be best directed to Ableton, but I thought I would mention the very basic steps required in case the problem is that you are unfamiliar with your host. I assume there has to be, even with the Live demo, documentation available that would enlighten you much further than I can… but who has the time to read these things 😉

Hey I’ve worked it all out…..yippie lol and it sounds amazing wiv EZdrmr – I fired up Live 8 deleted the audio1 and midi3 tracks – dragged EZDr into midi2 track set the midi in port to usb audio device, armed midi2 and pressed record!!! BINGO haha – at the end I coverted the midi file to a WAV file during the exporting process then imported the WAV file into audacity mixed it wiv the backing track mp3 tweaked the volumes and saved it as another WAV file which i then converted externally wiv NCH file converter into MP3….hey presto an amazing drum cover…….thanks everyone for the help tho……..
I can help you. Can you help me with my issue?
HI : I am a newbie on this forum. I just bought the Alesis DM10x on Tuesday. I printed out the midi layouts for my fav kits that I bought for EZD2 (EZX). Unlike SD2 there is no way to change the midi #’s or note names to match up on the DM10 module. I can go into the DM10 module and change them, but some of the triggers are set to the GM #’s and note names. How can in detail get the kits to works when I am recording in PT11. I need a detailed fix for this problem. a video would be helpful as well . Thanx in advance. mike@lakeviewwebdesign.com
How do you get a drummer to stop playing? Put a chart in front of him. ha ha ha
