I just bought the Akai MPK Mini and am having trouble setting it up. I assumed the midi mapping would be automatic, but so far no sounds.
I use a Dell laptop Windows 7 64 bit. Am trying to get the Akai MPK Mini to play the EZ Drummer sounds. The Akai manual has no instructions how to assign the pads to EZ Drummer.
In OPTIONS (in EZ Drummer), you can pull down a menu that shows MIDI DEVICES… in here you are able to a MIDI IN device. The MPK Mini is shown, however when you select it… widow pops up saying “Could not set selected midi device”
Side note… am also using Mixcraft for my DAW, and Line6 GX interface.
I called Akai and they said the problem was on the EZ Drummer side… not theirs.
Please help…
Hi,
you are using EZdrummer in Toontrack solo, since you write about the Options>MIDI Devices menu.
I hope you have updated to the latest version of both EZdrummer and Toontrack solo?
If not, these are available in your Toontrack account.
I also hope you are not trying to use EZdrummer in Toontrack solo at the same time as running your other host; Mixcraft?
If you do, that could explain why the MIDI Device isn’t available, since Mixcraft may have claimed it already.
Are there any updated drivers available for the MPK on the AKAI website?
Best Regards,
John
