Laying out a full drum beat – Ableton Live 8

Hi-
Just bought EZ Drummer and attempting to use it with Ableton Live 8. I dont think I fully understand the software. I got the drag-and-drop working, but if I want to layout several of the grooves to create a full beat, how do I do this? For example, I want to make an 8 measure section to become a chorus for a song I am working on. When I drag and drop into Abelton, it creates a single clip, and I cant figure out how to extend and add to this clip.

Do I need EZ Player Pro to put my beat together, then drag the completed piece into the desired clip in Ableton?

Hi,

you should be just fine with Live and EZdrummer. Are you dragging the groove to the clip slot in the mixer? I’m not in front of Live right now, so please forgive me if I’m not using the right terms.
If you drag and drop to the Arranger area, there should be no problem adding more grooves to build you song.

Yes,

just tried in Live 6 to d-n-d from the plugin to the Arrangement View and built a song in a few seconds;-)

Thank you, you’re correct. Looks like if I want to lay it out in actual “song” format, it needs to be done in the Arrangement view instead of the Live view.
