How can I retrace MIDI-files?

Let´s say I have a song and I search for a fitting groove and I try a groove of the Nashville then I try one from a Songwriter pack etc.
Let´s presume I take the Nashville groove and want to know from which category it originates from bc I want to use some more of this category: How can I retrace it??? I don´t have the name written in the file and even if so they hard to decipher…
Any ideas???

Two methods I use. First method, I keep a notebook and pencil and write it down. Or, second, I use EZplayer and drag the all the grooves I’m using into an Arranger track. You can then right-click on any groove in the Arranger track in EZplayer to retrace the path in the browser above.

In the meantime I chose pen and paper
But I will give it a try with the EZPlayer method

Superior and EZDrummer are missing some search and filtering functions that will hopefully be added.

One of them would be the ability to find the original file in the browser based on the name the MIDI file is given when it is dragged into the host.

I do a similar method to what Scott has suggested. Every track in Cubase has a notepad area where you can make notes. I note the long path to the MIDI files I use.
