Hello,
I have been using EZDrummer along with DKFH, Cocktail and Electronic expansions for a little over a year now and have had virtually no issues with it. I run it with Pro Tools 7.1.2 LE on Windows XP Pro.
Like I said, everything has worked great until I decided to go online with this computer for the first time in over two years. I had several hours of Windows updates and within it, it installed IE8. After some research I found that Pro Tools LE desnt work with Windows7 or IE8. So after uninstalling IE8 and reverting back to IE7, I uninstalled Pro Tools and reinstalled it to avoid any further glitches. Pro Tools is now running properly and I can listen to my existing tracks with one exeception…EZDrummer is no longer working. When I opened its tab on a preexisting file, it said it was not authorized on this computer and has a new Computer id for me to register. I then got online and went to toontracks and checked out my registered products. The number is different then the one already registered. So I removed the old registered number (even though it is the same pc) and I activated the new number EZDrummer just gave me. I recieved the authorization code, inputed it into the box and it said authorization was successfull. I then played my file and the drums played just fine. I then closed pro tools and reopened it this morning only to have the same thing happen. EZDrummer says it isnt authorized on my pc and is offering yet another Computer ID. I do not want to register this one because you only get four registers per product and this would be my fourth and last registration accepted by toontrack.
Why does it keep asking me to register it and what can I do to fix this problem so I can get back to recording and working on old projects?
Any and all help/suggestions is more than appreciated and I thank you in advance.
Jason
There are 2 reasons why Toontrack products re-trigger authorization. First is a change in the motherboard. Second is a change in the NIC. A change in the NIC also includes the state of the NIC (on or off). This is the reason why you had no problems until you switched the NIC from off to on causing the hardware setup to shuffle in Windows. I would recommend running your computer with the NIC in the state you intend to work with your Toontrack product.

Scott,
Thank you for the quick response.
I hear what you are saying, and actually was doing just that. I did update via online, but once it was all done, before I started pro tools back up, I disabled my wireless adapter so I wasnt able to be online, yet it did as I described above.
So to make sure I am clear, you are saying I should disable my nic, then start pro tools, and then register one more time and then never have the nic enabled when I start pro tools?
That is easy enough, I just want to be sure this will work because if not, I am out of registrations and dont know what to do. I removed an old registration from my old pc before I bought this one, and I thought it would then allow me another registry, but it doesn’t…kinda bogus, if you update your computer often. 🙂
Hi Jason,
to generate the Computer ID in the state you intend to work is what Scott is recommending; i.e. if you work with the wireless Disabled, you start Pro Tools and launch EZdrummer with it Disabled. Copy your Computer ID and then Enable it to go online and enter the Computer ID to receive an Auth code. Note the Auth code, Disable the wireless and enter the Auth code in the EZdrummer plugin.
I have deleted the Inactive Authorization, you have 2 free ATM.
Best Regards,
John

Hello John,
Thank you for clarifying that up. I did just as you and Scott suggested and everything is working great. IS it possible to have one more registration option added though? I finally got it working on my OrionBailey PC, and if yoyu notice, I now have two authorizations for the same PC… one of them being removed. Can I get that one back too? Thank you very much for being understanding of my foolishness. 🙂
Okay…going over all the threads and FAQ’s I know I am not the only one who continually gets stuck in the process of switching computers.
I have purchased a new laptop and am looking to authorize it as I just got done installing pro tools 9.e toontrack websitel. Why is there not a button or link to add, or authorize another pc? I cant remember how it was done in the past, but I thought it was as easy as clicking on a link or button
I have recieved my computer id, but am unable to find the option to add the computer on the toontrack website.
all the faqs and threads say how to generate a computer id, and then says follow the instructions on the scren to get the authorization code. What instructions? I see none pointing me in the direction of what to do with the computer id..
I know the support here is prompt, direct, and very informative. Great overall, but half of these threads and time spent answering these questions wouldnt be necessary if the layout, and process was a little bit simpler and clearer…
Thank You,
Jason
Why is there not a button or link to add, or authorize another pc?
You can have 2 computers actively authorized at any one time.
If you currently have 2 computers authorized, you need to remove one of the ‘old’ computers before you can authorize the new computer. On your ‘My Products’ page for your product, you should see your current active authorizations. If it shows 2 computers, click the ‘Remove Authorization’ button for the ‘old’ computer and you should then be able to add a new authorization by clicking the ‘Add Authorization’ button.
If you only have 1 computer currently authorized, you should have an ‘Add Authorization’ button in the product page.
