Hi there,
I have several questions regarding the midi files that come with EZdrummer.
1) Were the files programmed or played live on an e-kit?
2) How are they organized? (eg. song format: verse, chorus, bridge, etc or are they separated into hi-hat grooves, ride grooves, etc)
3) What tempo range is covered?
4) What styles are covered? (eg. half-time, 16th hats, shuffle, etc)
5) Do you get different variations of the same groove? (eg an 8th note groove played first just with closed hats, then played with a crash at the start, then played with a crash at the start and a crash at the end, etc)
6) Does EZdrummer use the same midi mapping as Superior Drummer?
7) Those who have used EZdrummer’s midi files – how useful have you found them for building a full drum track?
Cheers,
Jeremy.

1) The MIDI files that ship with EZdrummer were programmed.
2,3,4,5) A picture is worth a thousand words.
6) The mappings are compatible. Some mappings are library specific, though.
7) I don’t use MIDI files often. I roll my own.

7. Of all the MIDI in the entire Toontrack catalog, I use the EZdrummer MIDI the most. I usually just start with Straight 4/4 – Groove 1 (as in the picture) – Hats 8th and take it from there, add some kick drums, ghost notes and cymbals. So I’d say it is very useful. It’s 8000+ files, by the way.
But that’s just me and my meat and potatoes music…
