Hi
I’ve just bought EZ Drummer and SD2.0, but a while back I downloaded what I thought was a demo of EZ Drummer by searching for it on google. It turned out to be illegal software I think, so I immediately uninstalled it and deleted the downloaded files as I didn’t want the software police to come knocking on my door.
Anyway, I’ve obviously bought the software now, but when opened EZ Player Pro and SD2.0 for the first time, I could authorise them, and they’re fine. EZ Drummer isn’t asking for me to authorise it, so I’m a little worried that there’s something left on my PC form the old illegal copy, and I want to endure that it’s fully authorised as per my paid for license.
Is there something I can do to force it to make me re-authorise it.
P.S. It would be really helpful if Toontrack actually released a demo version of EZ Drummer, SD2.0 and EZ Player Pro, as having the demo’s available, I would have bought them a long time ago. without them it’s taken me a very long time to discover they can do all I wanted/needed.

Hi,
it is hard to know what a previously installed illegal copy has done to your system but if you are updated to 1.2.0, please go to Add/Remove and select to remove all entries.
When done, re-install from the Full Download archive and then apply 1.2.0. If you are using a 64-bit host, run the 64-bit installer available in your account.

John

yeah I already did uninstall everything as soon as I realised it wasn’t a demo (basically as soon as I started the illegal copy a while back).
I had already done an uninstall and reinstalled EZD v1.2.0.
Is there not a registry key or activation file that’s changed when the software is activated, that I can delete and so it’ll force me to re-authorise with my paid for license?
just in case there’s some confusion, my licensed copy is registered to [email 0="remove" 1="to" 2="protect" 3="you" 4="from" 5="spam" 6="bots"]

The first thing I would try would be to check the Control Panel>Program and Features and check to see if EZdrummer is showing up as installed. If it is then I’d uninstall EZdrummer.
Then I would go to Run>Regedit and then us Ctrl-F to find any entry that has “EZdrummer” in it and I would delete those keys. (I should mention that it would be advisable to save your registry entries by exporting them to a safe place in case you have a problem later). Use F3 to find the next instance of the search string till you have eliminated everything pertaining to EZdrummer.
Then I would reinstall EZdrummer and hope for the best.

thanks Dave.
yes EZDrummer is showing as installed.
just to clarify, I uninstalled (using add/remove programs) the illegal copy as soon as I’d installed it and realised it wasn’t a demo, and was in fact a cracked copy. I know now that rapidshare is dodgy, and I won’t make that mistake again (i hope). I thought it was like c-net downloads, which hosts a lot of shareware and demo software.
then a while later I bought ezdrummer and installed it from the CD.
So I’ve already uninstalled and reinstalled, to no effect.
Taking your advice, uninstalled EZDrummer and the cocktail kit, and then I found some registry entries that looked like product keys for EZDrummer, so I guess they are dodgy codes, and deleted them (I exported that reg key first just in case). I also found after uninstalling EZD, there was still an EZD folder and a file called Aversion was in there, with an old date (not yesterday when I installed the legit copy of EZD) so I removed that too.
just to clarify, here’s the reg keys I deleted:
they were here: [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareClassesVirtualStoreMACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeToontrackSuperiorEZDrummer]
so I deleted that whole key with the following objects under it (I’ve edited out the key codes as they were dodgy):
“CPKey”=”XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX”
“CPKeyIx”=”1”
“CPKey2″=”XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX”
then installed again, and now I can register it.
thanks for all your help guys.

PLEASE HELP!!! I have a legal copy bought from guitar center that was still taped shut. Tried to install on windows7-blue screen of death. Ok, it didn’t say win7 was included, but vista was. So install it on a vista pc. Blue screen of death again. Winxp did not even see the disk in the drive. 2 destroyed pc’s. I did a fresh install of win7 without updates and the pc didn’t crash(oh it’s a quad core, not garbage). But my authorization code is worthless. Anyone?
RuzikMuzic:
Please start a new thread if you need more help on this matter.
But you shouldn’t install from the DVD when you’re on Win7, you should download the EZdrummer Full Download Installer (≈700MB) available in your Toontrack account after registering the product.
When you have run the Full Installer, please download and run the EZdrummer 1.2.1 update.
Next launch EZdrummer; either as a plugin in your host or in Toontrack solo and Authorize it.
A previously issued Auth code will be “worthless” yes if it is another PC or the same PC with a new configuration, since it is the Hardware Configuration list that makes up the Computer ID.
