Hi there,
i am using EZ+DKFH for a while and was very satisfied with it.
since i heard addictive drums i am a little jealous about the possibilities (EQ, comp etc.).
so i heard about the the crossgrade to the superiour line which would give all those gimmicks.
if the crossgrade is installed, do i have 2 vstis in my sequenzer to choose? EZ and Superiour?
what about the required hard disk space? EZ+DKFH needs 2,5 GB. with the crossgrade do i have to manage 4 or 25 GB? 4 standard and 25 with all possilbe samples, kits and stuff?
and what about the metal foundry. it´s 8 GB standard and 35 GB full installation?
so if i want anything installed i need 62,5 GB disk space?
what about ram? 1,5 GB seems very little to manage all those. but i don´t have any experience in this so i hope you can give me a little instuctions.
can i use the midi files from ez line with superiour or do i have to noticed something if i change?

The S2 library (Avatar) can be installed in different ‘sizes’. The smallest ‘basic’ version can be installed in 4GB but if you want the full library (drumsticks, brushes, rods, etc) you would need 25GB.
Hard drives are cheap so don’t let hard drive space scare you from installing the full libraries that Superior has to offer. I bought an external 1TB USB2.0 hard drive for my laptop and it works great. You can find them on Amazon for under $100.

Same thing for TMF. Basic install is 8GB. If you want the full library install, it will take 35GB of space.

1.5GB is a minimum requirement. Basically that means you need 1.5GB minimum to load basic to medium size kits in S2. If you also want to run other samplers/audio tracks/effect plugin you would definitely benefit from more RAM. I have 2 systems I work with. Both have 2GB of RAM. Some kits (full bleeds, full articulations, all mixer channels) I just can’t load. But, with the RAM saving techniques described in the manual (16-bit mode, cache mode, Bounce) I can load anything I need as still run a full session in my host.

All Toontrack libraries follow GM extended mapping so, for the most part, all Toontrack MIDI will play back when swapping sound libraries. Of course, some libraries have specific mapping on some articulations and will vary in mapping but, for the most part, you can swap thing just fine.

Hi scott, thanks for the fast answer! the possibility of having the library on an external disk sounds very interesting. i would be afraid that the sequenzer got problem in finding the lib. but you can “tell” superiour drummer where to find the lib? seems that i will buy Superior Drummer before i get a new computer then, *G*.
is it possible to run superiour (and also ) EZ without having the computer connected to the internet?
i want to run ez on my laptop without any internet.

I haven’t had any issue running any/all of my Toontrack libraries (I got ’em all) from external hard drives. Since all samples are loaded into RAM, there isn’t any disc streaming issue so the drive doesn’t need to be blazing fast. Like I said, on my laptop, I have the Toontrack libraries stores on an external USB2.0 drive and on my studio PC I have them stored on an external Glyph FW drive. S2 doesn’t have any problems finding the sound libraries unless there is operator error . I’ve forgotten to plug the drive in, for example.
Yes, you can run S2 and EZD without being connected to the internet. The only time you need internet connection is when authorizing and even then, the computer you want to authorize doesn’t need to be connected to the internet.
Here’s a video so you can see the authorization process.

Oh great, i will try this! both ideas, i just orderes the superiour crossgrade, !
only one question remains: if i look upon my Total Authorizations there is 2 instead of 1, cause of my try to acitvate it for the laptop in the past. how can i undo this?
and how can i de-activate it (when i get a new PC)? can i do this myself?
thanks for your great support!
