Sometimes I want to use the same groove sample at some point later in the song and I will copy it from a previous event to the new event using alt click and drag. When I do this I notice the name changes to the track name which incidently has changed to the first groove or fill that I use. Subsequent copies do the same thing. For example:
I use EP_FUb_G05_04H at bars 1-8. The track name changes to EP_FUb_G05_04H. If at bar 20 I copy a groove already in the project, say EP_FUb_G05_13H, it will show as EP_FUb_G05_04H in the project window although in the title bar above the tool bar it is correct as EP_FUb_G05_13H. This is somewhat confusing at times because I’m focused on the project window. Is this normal?
Also, and I know this topic has been inquired about before but it sure would be nice if there was a reference of all the samples based on their names so that if you do forget to write them down you don’t have to waste time re-sampling the groove for what you think was your beat.

The channel changing to the groove name is a Cubase thing. I don’t know why it does it. I use Cubase and Reaper in my studio. Reaper doesn’t change the channel name to the groove name when you drag a groove onto it.

Ok, thanks for the info. Originally I didn’t notice the correct name was in the title bar and was frustrated because I couldn’t tell what sample I had used. But now at least I know can see it in title bar. Thanks Scott.
